Had a good opening weekend, wish I had more time to post but that is not the way the weekend played out. Like tonight however and my boys are first up.

Like a few plays to open the weekend this week

Picks:

Chiefs 1-12 Margin 3 units at $2.50

These games tend to be close encounters and both teams are at the premier end of the competition. Think we can expect this one to be a real goody to get the round under way. I do have to give the Chiefs the edge however welcoming back a couple of key AB's to the fold. Must also make a mention that the last time the Brumbies beat the Chiefs in NZ was 2007. That is a long drought and expect that to stay the course tonight.

Chiefs/Brumbies Over 47.5 7 units  @ $1.90

Last week they made hard work of it but got the job done in the end. Now they welcome back a few key players to the mould and think they will rep the benefits straight away. The average score when these to have got together is 52 so like the value we are getting here. Brumbies did look great on attack last week and think the Chiefs will be better for the hit out and have a few points in them tonight. The past 5 matches between these 2 sides have gone over this total and for that reason it is my first 7 unit play of the season.

Bulls -4.5 5 units @ $1.90

There are 2 massive reasons for this play tomorrow morning. The canes are in a huge let down spot after winning the first game on the road in SA can not see them backing that up and going 2-0. Bulls are on a huge bounce back spot after giving up the win in the first round they will be looking to take advantage of the Canes and get their season going with a first win.

I'm tempted to back the Chiefs due to the changes in both sides. Pocock  is a huge loss, both physically and psychologically and Cruden in particular is a huge gain. Not to mention Retallick off the bench. Brumbies looked good but anyone would have racked up a score against the Reds last week.

Put it this way - I won't be backing the Brumbies.

No bet for me on Chiefs game. At -6.5 I just think the Tahs are a much better bet than the Chiefs.

By the way snake, I don't disagree with your reasoning on both games.

Not a good night at all for me. Great job by the Canes to go 2-0 over is SA. Great way to get the season started really and they deserve it.

Onto the remaining slate of games for the weekend.

Picks:

Highlanders Su 4 units @ $2.40

Home opener tonight for the Highlanders. Yes it may prove a slight down side as they may have some rust but this is always a massive grudge match and think at home they should have the goods. Saders were trash last week and showed nothing at all to suggest being favourites this week.

Highlanders/Crusaders over 50.5 6 units @ $1.90

Under the roof seems to be a good formula for an over and I am going with that again this season. It has proven very profitable over the pat few Super seasons and going with the play again. I think the Saders will be out to prove they do have some points in them and will turn in a much better attacking game this week. Highlanders have some real game breakers all over the park and think we can expect some points from them as well.
