Sportsbet, for one, has put up a market on the Shute Shield winner. To my way of thinking there is one stand-out value bet and that is Sydney University @ $8. As always at this time of year their team takes on a totally different and imposing look. Today they have Tilse, Latu, Dennis, McCutcheon, Carter, Kingston and possibly Paddy Ryan. Carter's 200th game and their last at the old ground should bring out the best in them and I expect them to trounce Norths this weekend, who despite what the team list states will be without skipper Matwijow and also has a backline reshuffle. If you can get on Uni at say -25.5 (I haven't been able to find any agency betting this game yet), even if it's only with a mate for a couple of schooners, then snap it up.
I also expect Manly to knock over the Rats which will push Uni into 4th place and a play-off game against Southern Districts, avoiding a first round clash with either Manly or the Woods.
Winning on the punt is all about repeatedly getting over the odds and while I'm not saying that Uni will necessarily win the comp I can assure you that $8 is way over the odds of their actual chance of taking home the Shield.
Grab it before this weekends games as if results go as I confidently expect they will, Uni will be shorter come Monday.
Good punting all.

Uni have got no chance. I don't know where u get your info from, but I've got inside knowledge and can tell you that it's a 2 horse race between Manly and Woodies.

As expected the Students belted the Shoremen. I presume anyone bothering to read my comments would realise that I meant the Woods would knock over the Rats (not Manly as posted) which they duly did.
Thus, as predicted, Uni have slipped into 4th spot and will play Southern Districts next week and have to lose and have Eastwood or Manly lose to miss out on the semis. Won't happen.
So hopefully some managed to snap up the 8 bucks and can now sit tight or hedge when it reaches the semis.
rivermonsterz - I don't like to denigrate anyone who posts on one of my threads but to say that Uni have got "no chance" is just plain wrong, wishful thinking yes, but unfortunately plain wrong.

To think that a bunch of up themselves twats can come together at the end of a season and beat a hardcore group of fantastic rugby players that have been building their squad for years, purely for this moment would be wishful thinking my friend.
Uni are good, but they have no soul brother.

rivermonsterz - I dislike what Uni do, and have done, to Sydney rugby as much as any rugby supporter. I love to see them beaten. This does not mean that they won't win and my post is an assessment of their chances, not what I want to happen. My comment stands - if you can get $8 about them winning the Shield (which you won't now) then have gotten well over the odds.
For what it's worth, I want the Woods to win.

Hi gday what u think this weekends two shield games. Cant find any site to get infros.... If you dont mind give us your thoughts.....
G'day T2M,
There are 3 games. Eastwood and Uni both find their best form come the play-offs and I expect them both to win by double digits. Manly of course should win, but their supporters get very nervous at this time of year and with good cause. This mightn't be the week to bet against them although Randwick are at juicy odds, but I'll certainly be backing against them when they face up to the Woods or Students.

Won with the Woods -7.5 yesterday. Waiting for my book to put up a price for todays game. Hoping to get -9.5 the Students but will take -11.5. I expect them to win 15+.

Beautiful afternoon down here at Manly Oval. Manly easily dispose of the students 42-22. Uni never a chance of taking out the shute shield this year as my inside information informed me earlier.
