I thought the purpose of these forums was to provide info to help us all make money!
in Penalty Box it is- you can make good money reading this forum if you simply fade most of the consensus plays lol..... |

@gatornation well sure but what did -3 for the game(and pickem for the second half) cost? I mean USA was a significant favorite coming in and ended the first half looking like the clearly better team.....it sure as hell wasn't a pickem at even money for the second half at my book.

so you're telling people to do in game live plays after the first qtr and take the team that gets off to a fast start/quick lead(and in doing so would be playing lines that are very disadvantageous relative to the opening line and highly juiced in a negative way)....umm yeah that always works out well as a strategy. better yet why not just keep flipping back and forth with live plays taking whichever team just scored....nothing says 'sharp' like a series of alternating -240 plays :) |

lol S AL (aka a lot of this board as usual) going to get absolutely destroyed tonight.....USA did not come to play, clearly doesn't give a damn, and has already committed two horrific personal fouls on defense. If you have money in any way/shape/form on USA your bet is dead in the water lmao.....so funny.

@Knollywood100 I'm very confused....the whole idea of hedging is to set it up where you are guaranteed to win money in the end either way(or at least not lose money). If he plays Cle-4.5/+380(sounds a bit generous by the way even if his book will let him sell however many points he wants like that), then there is a *huge* gap of outcomes(anywhere from Denver winning by 5 to cleveland winning by 4....essentially any close game) where he loses both the original parlay and the hedge. Thats like the opposite of a hedge lol..... |

@CRRECORDS is this still available? At all my sites it is 23-24 yards? 18.5 quite frankly sounds ridiculous at what is pretty close to even money. It's 23.5, 23, and 24 at the first three sites I looked at, which would likely convert to o18.5 at something like -175. I mean this would be like one book having a game broncos -6 and then another book having it broncos -11 or a pickem....just doesn't add up. |

Therefore.....
congrats Browns ATS backers and those who have the under on that prop. There don't appear to be many of you in here with those plays, but given this forum's acumen you can be pretty damn sure they are hitting lmao....... |

I mean whether to hedge or not depends on the nature of these parlays. If it's like a bunch of 2-3 or even 4 game/play parlays(and you have only won 1 or 2 legs so far), of course you shouldn't hedge. That's going to be a long term losing strategy for sure. If you are doing 3 team parlays and after the first two legs are covered you are like "man I've got to hedge", you just need to switch to doing 2 team parlays lol...... Now if it's like a 7 or 8 teamer and you have every leg covered but this one, sure.....hedge to *some* degree(not the whole thing). Because then you've actually accomplished something to the point where you deserve the hedge. I just find it funny when people win a leg or two of a parlay and start scrambling for a hedge on the last play as if they have done something amazing so far. Like no.....you've won a game or two. Winning a game or two in a parlay isn't a reason to start pissing down your pants legs because you're afraid to 'lose it all'. If you haven't really done shit yet, you really can't lose much so no hedge needed. Only you know which category all these parlays fit in. |

@theMatrix24 well he's not a 'joke'. He was a slightly above average(the advanced stats and his record state he was average exactly; I tend to think he was a touch better and those two metrics underrate him a little. And there is value in being a slightly above average nfl qb for so many years......especially when you are the starting qb of two super bowl wins during that time. That's a very impressive accomplishment. But in no way should it elevate such a player to literally all time great qbs of the game. |

@AJ86 By 'mahomes'.......do you mean Patrick Mahomes? I'm assuming since the comparison is eli Manning, there is some other mahomes that I don't remember who was a fairly decent but unspectactular player a long time ago? Because if it's patrick mahomes, I can only conclude that you're as clueless as the original poster who posed the eli vs peyton question. Let me give you guys a hint- Eli Manning is not comparable to any of the following qbs: Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Patrick Mahomes, Joe Montana. Well a bunch more than that(like 30 plus more pretty easily but whatever), but lets just start there.....
I swear....is eli's wife coming on here to ask these questions? |

wait....lets take rodgers out of it for a second(because there is a separate argument you can make there on him vs peyton even if I don't agree with it)- are you really asking whether peyton manning or eli manning had the better career? Let's see.... -one guy won....let's see....1,2,3,4.....5 mvps. Peyton Manning won 5 mvps. I'll let you guess how many more mvps that is than his brother. -Peyton manning was 1st all nfl at qb 7 times. SEVEN. Can you guess how many times eli did this? Hint: it's the same as his number of mvps. -Peyton manning has a 187-79 career record. Eli? 118-118. Yeah, I don't think those are similar. And one can go on and on between how mismatched these are. Both won two super bowls, but manning also went to two others. Eli really didn't have any postseason success outside of those two sb runs(I mean two super bowl runs is amazing, but not so amazing compared to a guy with two super bowls and then a ton of other playoff wins) There is literally more difference in career quality between peyton manning and eli manning than there is between eli manning and......someone like Jake Delhomme. Or (insert some random decent but fairly forgettable guy). Like it's impossible to overstate how big the gap is between an all time great top 2-4 type nfl qb of all time and Eli Manning. |

I'll say this- you better be a BIG SMU fan next week.....because that 50% is pretty much all on the clemson/smu game. If clemson wins, you are likely in deep crap on that play. |

what is the strategy on buying all that juice in that game for the 3? Right now on bovada it's +1.5(-105)......I'm guessing you didn't have it at that price for 1.5 if you're paying -147 for the 3(thats kind of a typical nfl split from 1.5 to 3), but even so over time you have to know that buying a point here and a point there to get to 3 is going to be in the negative longterm. The math dictates it. So I'm just curious- what is there that is so particular about this game where you just have to have the 3? |
