The hill reports that Biden administration is directing up to 1000 troops from defense department to assist FEMA and national guard members in states damaged by hurricane Helene. They can help distribute food, water, medicine and other supplies. FEMA could reach hard hit areas more quickly.
Meanwhile House democrat Moskowitz has proposed a $15 billion bill to supplement FEMA funding for disaster relief. Previously, republicans voted against additional funding in stopgap bill.
Good to see our fed gov't is responsive in time of need. I understand from earlier reports that the Biden admin already directed emergency funding even prior to any requests!

US economy performs better under democrat presidents. All economic data indicates strong US recovery in jobs, economic growth and lower inflation. Impressive because Biden was unlucky to inherit a damaged economy. Whereas Trump was lucky to inherit a strong economy from Obama. However polls show most people don't know how well US economy is actually performing despite economy being top priority in election. Unlike economists, low information voters don't often follow data or news. But informed voters are more likely to have an optimistic view.
