Good lord. He is universally hailed as one of the most annoying poker players that ever lived. Why would the Trop do this?
They have 8 tables. Anyone who plays poker seriously would not be lured to this room for anything other than a one-time joke to say you saw it and played in it.
For every other casual fly-by-the-night poker player, say the ones who play 2-4 limit, are they going to herd over there so some kind of massive rake can be taken in by the Trop just because this room was named after him?
It makes little sense other than it is some kind of joke. But it's a pretty expensive joke given they probably are paying Gold a nice sum to use his name.
Which keeps leading you back to the same question. Why?
Who cares that he won the richest WSOP in history. He is no less a fish at a 2-5 table of experienced players. I can say that confidently given I have played at those tables for quite some time.
Why? Why? Why?
Any posters who have been there, provide details. Is there a life-size gold cardboard cutout at the entrance?
