I'll start this thread off, I first heard this song as a teenager growing up in northeast Ohio and it took on a whole different meaning at the time and now that I just turned fifty eight these words "Is a dream a lie if it don't come true, or is it something worse?" from the song "The River" by Bruce Springsteen really mean so much more as I reflect back on where I have been, went through and where I am at now at this stage of my existence.
If we can PLEASE let's stick to the Thread Title and leave politics out of it? THANK YOU

I had to google those words because you did not identify the song. I was ONLY three years old when this came out in 1968, wow...Vietnam was a HOTBED and yet life was still more of a peaceful existence than it is today! These songs from our generation are TRULY timeless.

That song was just background noise to me until one night I "heard" it. I guess we've all done this.
Another for me is "and time washes clean love's wounds unseen" (Long, Long Time)
Again it was just another song until I heard it one morning while on a business trip to Memphis in the 90's. I still remember that morning like it was yesterday. The best version of it has to be by Melanie. I'd always thought of her as a novelty singer, due to only associating her with Brand New Key in the 60's

Having heard some Pink Floyd in my life, this song was one that I had not experienced. It's GREAT to hear these songs that were released during my childhood that I was too young to even know about. When this was released in 1973 I was just eight years old. Thank you!
