Yes, off course it's safe. They aint gonna cheat ya...just not good for business if the word gets out that the boys in Vegas don't honor wager tickets.
Make a copy of it, sign the back and send it certified mail so you get a receipt showing they signed for it and received it.
But if you still feel leery about it why don't you wait till your next visit to cash it in.
