Just in from a nice 5 nite stay at the beautiful Golden Nugget, being a 55 year old guy my idea of Vegas fun is probably a bit different than many here in the forum as this report will include no tales of drunken nites and debauchery. Arrived via Southwest Air mid day sunday , Lunch over at Triple 7 pub at Main Street Station included there fantastic honey dijon wings washed down with a tasty black cherry stout, missed the early NFL games but cashed in on the Redskins at + 5,,Texans at -3 and The Giants late both on the Under and as side play so got off to a great start.
Monday brought partly cloudy skies in the morning, started the day with a fantastic order of eggs benedict over at the Magnolia Cafe at 4 Queens, skies cleared by midday and spent the majority of the afternoon relaxing poolside at the Tank (the pool at the Golden Nugget),,spent a few hours playing video blackjack & a good bit of video poker (deuces are wild is my game of choice), didnt win anything but had a few vouchers to sleep on for monday nite, played on the Dolphins that nite thru my local at + 1 as all the shops in the downtown area had the game as a pickem--needless to say that one didnt turn out so well. Enjoyed the buffet over at The Main Street Station, took in the lite show on Fremont street and crashed out rather early as I usually try my best to stay on east coast time and consider my self a "day" guy anyway as opposed to running the streets at nite.
Tuesday had me up and on the move at 6 am, as I enjoy checking the numbers and taking a walk thru the downtown area, breakfast again at Magnolia Cafe, a good bit of time at the pool and another afternoon of relaxing and playing video blackjack and poker, again no winners but didnt lose anything so again had vouchers in the pocket. dinner that nite at Vic & Anthonys was excellent and featured there killer steakhouse salad, a nice glass of red wine, side of asparugus spears and of course the lamb chops with a side of mint jelly- simply delish- hit on troy that nite so it was a good day of gaming- took in the Country Music Superstars tribute show that nite in the ballroom at the Nugget,,front row seats were pretty cool but the show itself was ok ,,nothing great.
Wed.started at 6 again and was back at the Magnolia for another serving of eggs benidict (outstanding again) - pool time thru out the afternoon and mixed in with more blackjack and video poker , no big winners or losers but had vouchers in the pocket again when I turned in so was feeling rather good about that, so so day from the gaming side of things as the rays let me down , hit on the Phils on the ML & RL but had UAB in the college football game and that to went down in flames. Kicked back a philly sandwich and another one of the black cherry stouts over at Triple 7 Pub to wrap up the day.
Thursday got off to a fantastic start as I dropped one of my vouchers in a video poker machine at Binions and hit on 4 deuces on very first hand (max play at .25 paid off at $250 so that was a super sweet way to start the day) pool time thru the afternoon, lost on the rays & twins during the afternoon but got down to the book to late to make my Under play for KState-Neb, so in fact my slackness made me a winner on that one- sweet- had the Under for the opener of the SF - Atlanta series and Timmy's gem made me an easy winner with a 1 - 0 nothing final, missed the game as I enjoyed dinner over at Lillies (asian) in The Nugget, have to report that the wok styled chicken in a honey sauce was one of the best meals I have ever had, of any type , anywhere, mere words cannot describe how good it was, but it blew me away. Enjoyed front row seats for The Gordie Brown show that nite in the Nugget ballroom and found him to be hilarious, rolling in laughter thruout - after hitting the $250 to start the day and enjoying one of the best dinners ever and a top notch vegas show I was feeling fine, a quick check of the ball game on the way out of the ballroom was most pleasant as well as the Giants were just putting the wraps on the braves and my under play was cashing- swished down a couple of black cherry stouts to put the wraps on the best day of the week.
Up early on friday, and off to the airport for a 935 flight back to the tar heel state, rather boring I know fellas, but for me most enjoyable and very relaxing, already looking forward to my next trip out in early march, for now I'm trying to nurse in a winner on the nevada- san jose state game as I have the UNDER (63) and it's 28 -13 with 12 minutes to go in the 4th so it's back to the grindstone for me. Thanks for taking the time to take a read here.
