My buddy and I had a argument about limits in Vegas sportbooks. His argument was books in Vegas wont take bets over 10-20k. I thought that was absurd and that they would take any bet as long as it wasnt fishy(UNLV)

I am not an expert nor have i ever tried to bet 10k. Rules change from book to book but I think the norm is that anything over 2k must be cleared by the book manager. With that said, I tend to fall on your buddy's side of the argument.

Totals at the LVH have a limit of 2.2k, but depending on your status you can get approved for more, and the same goes for other bets. It also depends on when you go and who is at the window. I asked the limit on a money line parlay a few weeks back and I was told 200k or so.
The answer would be you can place 10k-20k bets, but it depends on your status, and depends on which casino. Also if you have a players card and you can expect to fill out a W-2.

If they casino is on 1) sound financial footing 2) believe that its a fair bet (i.e. not a FIX going on or something fishy like u want 2 bet 300k on some small school that you can pay the quarterback $800 to fake an injury b4 halftime) they will take your bet. BUT in the VIP Area, the BALLERS & HEAVY TIPPERS Smoke weed & everything else in plain view & its nothing said. Hell, I was at a VIP table in Jet right next to Charles Oakley & he had the biggest cigar Ive ever seen just puffing away. Strip clubs also say no sex in the champagne room, YEAH RIGHT. I've tipped $50 in a cheap club or $100 in a better joint for the bouncer to "LOCK UP" The VIP & Give me "extra time" for a BJ. So, what are YOU TALIKNG ABOUT???

at the Cal there are limits for college and pro. the limits are different as I can recall. But most wagers can be cleared with managers approval. If you have the cash, you probably get to play.

Basically comes down to status and you can get cleared at the higher casinos. The smaller sized ones may decline you or just have to make a phone call. To be safe just go to one of the bigger ones.
I made my bet for the weekend the other day and the book's management noticed me prior to going up to the window, so he knew when a big wager hit that it was most likely mine, and surprisingly he never came over when the window man asked for him twice.
I could do the same wager at another book and be forced to wait 10 minutes or more while they make a phone call.
I don't want bigkat's rep on these boards, so I am just being honest, and I won't claim to having bigkat's bankroll. Just wanted to throw that out there...haha No offense bigkat.
