Let's take this another direction. This was probably brought up during the past, but I have yet to see a topic about it, and I would love to hear some truthful stories.
What have your experiences been with relationships and the woman (or men) knowing you cap games or gamble at the tables? This goes for dating, first dates, and all the above once they know what you enjoy doing.
Feel free to link a topic about this that has been discussed because it will only add and provide more insight.

carnivorous? What, sorry, that was suppose to say Relationships.
Seriously, WTF? My computer is like my phone and provides options for different words. Sorry for the mishap. (If a mod can edit it I would greatly appreciate it)

My wife used to love it but it's wearing thin on her. Its rough because "NON-GAMBLERS" in general don't understand how you can have 15k in a shoe box upstairs on Monday & have 2500 on Thursday sometimes. Particulary, when you are a "FEEL" bettor like me & have no $$ management.
(P.S. But of course the women love it when you come out of the blue and interior decorate the entire house like I did one time. She was out of town for 4 days with work & I hired the interior designer to do custom paint & window treatments etc. Cost me 7k. When she came back home I wasn't there on purpose. She called me screaming & I was golden for about 4 months (lol)
Downside. When I was in college about10years ago & first started betting I had I had just won 4k. Then, I "isolated" one game & waited all week and unloaded EVERYTHING on that shit. n the meantime, I told my wife that we were taking a cruise that weekend & get packed. (long story short instead of having 8k & ballin in Mexico, I was on TRIPLE ZEROES with a pissed off fiance' & felt like The worlds biggest loser)

I'm very cautious when telling people about my handicapping they think i'm smoking cigarettes just blindly picking my picks and lossing tons of money. In actuallity I spend hours on research for my picks and am very dicaplined when dealing with my bankroll. If the person is not a capper I just won't bother explaining what my passion is.Now for your question, i'm single right now and looking for a girl.I'm pretty sure i'll just tell her that I love sports at first and just show her over time i'm not a stereotypical gambler.

How hard is it living in NV? I mean with all the temptations, a sportsbook just a short drive, wow! I had to create an account for poker in 5dimes and throw away the password just so I couldn't create another account and play poker, it's my downfall.

Of course there are plenty of temptations here, but some get old, and as far as the casino goes I just bet. If I do go on a table it's roulette for a very short period of time, and it's very rare.
I can go to any book and not have to place a wager. So, there is little temptation, and once my research has been completed is when I place my wager(s). I feel I am grounded, I set goals for myself, and never chase.
As far as relationships or just dating goes it can be very difficult. Even my ex told me that no one will ever want to marry me. However, the only reason she says that is due to the amount of sports I watch, and for the simple fact that I have no interest marrying her. If I pulled out a string and proposed to my ex even now she would fall to her knees and melt.

Dating women can be interesting. They're so curious and even when I avoid the discussion it eventually has to be discussed. It normally leads to the woman being confused as hell and me rambling on about numbers.

I've loved sports my whole life, and now when I watch a game with friends, or family, I try not to act differently than I normally would.
As for dating, I'm single and looking. I don't have a hard time telling them I'm a HUGE sports fan. And when it comes to gambling, I can see why most are "turned off".

My girl and I have been together for almost 6 years now, living together for the past 2.
When I first met her, we exchanged numbers, and she called me on a Saturday. It was Breeder's Cup day and I had crushed the card. She called me at about 7pm and asked if I wanted to go out for a drink that night. During the course of our date, I had told her about the good fortune I had that afternoon. She had never met someone who bet horses like I do, and she was curious. She talked me into taking her to the Meadowlands right then to cash my tickets and play some races. We went over to that dump, and hung out there for about an hour. The date went really well, and we both obviously liked each other, but the most important thing is that I let her know right off the bat what I enjoy doing. There were no surprises. By the end of our first month hanging out, she knew that I played poker until the sun came up and that I went to the track on a weekly basis. There have been a few bumps in the road along the way. I play poker almost every day. In the early days of our relationship, I would play mostly at clubs in the area by where we lived (illegal poker rooms). Most of these places were safe and secure, but she just didn't like that I went to these places. Then one place got robbed, and a guy was shot and killed. I had never been to his particular room (they also had slot machines in there), but she freaked out. It was in the paper, and she read all the articles and told me that she didn't want me to play in places that were illegal anymore. This caused some strife between us, but it eventually blew over. Another big moment in our lives occured a few months ago. I've always worked, most recently as a programmer. The company I worked for was purchased by a company in Chicago. I was told that I could relocate or lose my job. I took the severance and became unemployed. I told her that I don't want another job. At first she was very hesitant, but she keeps track of every dime I spend playing poker (this was a good thing for me that started two years ago), and decided that it wasn't so terrible. I haven't worked in four months, and I have no plans to look for a job. Three days a week I play online, and Mondays and Wednesdays I go to Atlantic City.
The bottom line of this long ramble is that I found the right girl and was honest from the start, and it worked out great. I have friends who bet $500 on a game, and their WIVES have no idea. That's a recipe for disaster.

Thanks. I got lucky. When we first got serious, I was really nervous and afraid about losing some things that I loved about my life. There were certainly a few changes and things I stopped doing, but the positives far outweighed those. One of my favorite times since we've been together was a night that I had a bunch of people over my house. My friends all came and some had their girlfriends/wives with them. We ended up around the card table and played an impromptu tournament for $50 each. None of the girls played, but they sat next to us and sweated the game. We were drinking and having a good time, but everyone still wanted to win the game. I took it down, and my girlfriend was really impressed. She was playing close attention to what was going on, not in the game so much, but more what I was doing. Even though I was drinking and laughing, I was still focused and she could see that it was a game of skill and I did have an edge. That was the first (and one of the only times) she sweated me, and it was really a great time. She came with me to the WSOP in 2008, and stayed by the pool the whole time I was playing. I had a successful trip, and she loved it, even though we didn't spend alot of time together. We went to one show and a few meals, but she spent alot of time on her own. This year I went by myself, with her blessing.
Gimme, she has a step-sister (different fathers) in that age range, but they couldn't be more different. She is hot though, and two of my friends have penetrated her.
