I went to the original one in the Village (NYC) many times. My problem with Italian food in Vegas is that I have never had as good a meal as back East....NYC, Philly, Jersey, Staten Island....places that the "boys" run.

Il Mulino in CP is excellent....I would, however, say that the Osso Buco at Mimmo Ferraros is superior. I have not been to their new/expanded restaurant, I loved the old one...lots of "Sinatra charm" to it.

If you are a local and like superb pasta, then go to The Pasta Shop located in a rundown strip mall on the corner of Eastern and Tropicana. These guys made the pasta for the top Strip restaurants for years, then started a small restaurant. The dishes are decent, not great, but the pasta is the best in Vegas.

I have been there once and it was very good!! 

NJ....If your grandma was Sicilian, she clip you with the wooden spoon!!! LOL

Want the best steaks in Vegas?.....Go to Branded Meats on Horizon Ridge, right near the corner of Arroyo Grande & Horizon. The owner, Gary, bought the meat for Steve Wynn's best steakhouses...first at The Mirage, then The Bellagio, then The Wynn....same distributor, exact same meats.....he cuts them himself and will give you advice on how to best grill them.

Their American Kobe literally melts in your mouth.  Duck fat fries. Terrific wine list.  Nice vibe.  Excellent spot. 

And Red Square is just around the corner for before/after dinner drinks.

Steves Sizzling?

I've been to several high end steak houses in my life (Smith & Wollenskys, Ruths Chris, Mortons, Gallaghers, Capital Grille).  I will have to say that Vic and Anthonys at the Golden Nugget was my best experience.  All the food, from the the appetizers to dessert, was amazing.  Service was great as well.  You can't go wrong with Vic and Anthonys.

The key to a great steakhouse is the quality of the meat, how it is prepared (no seasoning other than salt/pepper), and, sometimes..the sides.

I could give a rats ass about service when the meat sucks.....The Palms in NYC is a great example of superb meat and chaotic service....Peter Luger's..great meat, solid service....

In Vegas, Prime at Bellagio and SW at Wynn get the best meat available in this town....Read my earlier post....It's about WHERE the meat comes from (and preparation) that makes a great steakhouse....

I am going in October and will definitely try the Chops.  I would also recommend DELMONICO at the Venetian.  Had an excellent steak there my last trip to Vegas.
