"Vegas betting"

I've lived here for 13 years. When I wanna see how, when and where a line moves, and or opens at, I will watch the Pinnacle lines.

The days of "Vegas" setting the line has been over for years. One or two of the casinos will open their lines and the sheep will follow. It's really pathetic honestly.

The Stations and the Coasts are just followers and you can benefit with their square lines especially at halftime with football and basketball.?

The "Vegas this and Vegas that" is quite amusing at this point. They could care less about the sports wagering in this town. They cater to the fuckin horse player like the world is coming to an end.

Why else would they sponsor all of these "free football contests" each and every year, giving away $30,000 a week to the lucky winner? You have to drive to the casino every week, possibly cash your paycheck, put in your loser free contest that Emma the 80 year old lady will probably win, bet a parlay, go to the buffet,etc,etc.

They could care less about the sports. I laugh because they keep pushing this "In Running Wagering" bullshit at the M Resort. Call i t fucking "live betting", cause that's what it is.

We've been doing this online for years, but it's brand new to the "Vegas" people.

The Race & Sportsbook accounts for less than 2% of the profit of any casino. The sportsbook makes its money if the bettor loses their bets; the racebook makes its money on every bet wagered, they risk none of the casino's money and only act as an "agent" of each racetrack that they book. It's easy to see why every casino runs their race and sportsbook as separate businesses....The South Point even has two separate directors for each. The sportsbooks have become, for the most part, a convenience for the guests and customers....they are a unique business. While internet gambling is a much bigger business, in volume, than Vegas (by estimate), I would strongly doubt than any gambling operation (BW for example) would do anything...or care for that matter...about offshore books.

As for Cantor Gaming's technology...it is much more advanced (and more to come) than anything you have ever seen online. The ability of the technology to be applied to all sporting events is brilliant.....Cantor has only used a small fraction of the technology's program so far. And remember....Given the choice, every bettor would rather have immediate (and safe) access to his money than deal with any offshore. And, no, "live betting" was tried in Vegas by several operations years ago....bad technology, bad results.

I am, frankly, hardpressed to understand the negativity that Las Vegas receives concerning sports betting (even more from the "locals" that are here because of the gambling industry)....since Nevada is still the only place in this country where you can legally (and, again, safely) bet on all professional, and some college, sports.

Let me say it again...in another way:

This website is geared to sportsbettors...PERIOD.

So, obviously, everyone on this website would either be, or think they are, knowledgable about sportsbetting...and cannot understand why the world (Vegas) doesn't "get it"....

If casino management had their way, they would replace all the sportsbooks with slot machines....Please read that again!!

The self-importance that sportsbetting gets on this website is way overblown when compared to the revenue that it generates for Vegas. Instead of being grateful for having a legal (and, once again, safe) place to make a wide range of sports bets, posters on this website prefer to bash Vegas for not fulfilling their every wish (to include free booze)....Forget that this town provides the best value dollar-for-dollar in the vacation marketplace, or that some of the top amenities in the resort world are here.....None of that is important to those that want to get down their 8-teamers for $5 and get free Bud Lites.....

And, trust me, I see that every single day in the industry.

And....to add an unfortunate piece.....Horserace betting, flats & trots, is a dying business. The median age of the horserace bettor is well over 50.

With the exception of the local books that can cater to that age group, the Strip has a problem filling its racebooks...which, as I mentioned earlier, is ALL PROFIT!! No risk at all.

Put those two facts together, and you can see why the Race and Sportsbook part of the casino receives such little attention from senior management and marketing executives. Yet, those on this website focus, 99%, on just that area of the casino.

their lines are only a guess from their staff and usually are very unaccurrate. They have so much nonsense to wager on alot doesnt get noticed by the uninformed.

Mickey....I'm not certain if LVSC gets involved with Jay Kornegay that early on Sunday....really think that Jay's team is doing it themselves....

Not quite certain what Yavapai knows about this....he seems to be an ex-employee of Jay's possibly.

I would like to see some facts from him concerning his comments on Jay's operation, not just opinion.

It really is a good place...free booze or not....

If more people, like yourself, could just come out here and enjoy what Las Vegas has to offer...on all levels....and stop trying to get or expect something beyond, it would be great.

I work in the industry....every day, I just try to show each visitor how much I appreciate that they spent their hard-earned money and came out to my town. I know that sounds "soapy"...but the vast majority of people that work here truly feel the same way.

Just an FYI but the MGM Grand wouldnt let me buy 1/2 point in pro football.

Wiseguy...........buying points is become rarer......The books know that they are gonna make their money during football season and the bettor will, ultimately, make their bets whether they buy points or not. Some "shop" for better lines/juice; but fewer and fewer bettors are getting points to buy.

Some still sell, based upon the games, but the sharps and their runners are getting less and less action on buying points.
