I cant believe I spent over an hour reading this thread in its entirety. Very insightful though. The dream fantasy to me would be to enjoy what you are doing. Presently, I am grateful for my lifestyle. Family is everything. The film Godfather has a strong influence on my life and the line from that movie regarding spending time with ones family is something I live by. So personally I would have to live ¡°the dream¡± vicariously through some of you playboys that are doing it in Sin City. One of my best buds talks about the dream. He is a successful gambler but does tend to get cute and could spiral out of control. But when we discuss this fantasy we be real. Why not get a job. Even a bartender gig is pretty sweet when you think about it. The game is on the tube!!!!!!!
I think Mafioso made a very good point early in the thread. Intel chimed in midway with insight. I like Pohoda post 259. And post 270 and the rant about online was gold. Its very risky to have a substantial amount in offshore action. Post 302 brought up the gamblers fallacy not once, but twice. That dude is whack. Do not listen to that strategy. I thought post 329 was legend. Just pick winners.
The lifestyle of earning $100 per day is a goal for some and in many cases, a confortable living.. Personally that¡¯s not enough. Maybe for a college or fresh out of college kid. But as a frequent visitor of Vegas, I really don¡¯t think it¡¯s a desirable place. I would pay 2% of winnings to someone who would place a wager for me. I¡¯m a situational gambler who leans on dogs. Career winner. But knowing that % wise I would have been a loser over the decade. It was balls that has made me money. San Diego @ Indy playoffs. Seattls vs Saints playoffs. Then, the daily player in me is a loser. I cant pick a winner in a Blue Jays vs Tigers game. I cant pick out a game on a daily basis and grind. Today, I knew Mexico was a better team than Japan. Despite their match not meaning a damn thing. I won huge. It was my only bet in the last 8 days. Pick Winners. Don¡¯t get cute.
This thread has opened up one thing to me. I pay about $60 in withdrawal fees to my main offshore book. And pretty much just buy lunch and break bread with¡.. So there is no real reason to go to Las Vegas. So to take the money out the book may essentially cover the gas money/parking/valet/tips/tips/tips it takes to live in Vegas.
If you play poker there is always someplace that has a great promotion. I rememiber once at Excalibur of all places you spun a wheel for simply draw AA. The Sahara had a fun tourney at 7-11-7 daily. Providing a meal at the first break. It was like what $77? With a $10 add on. A few years back you earned $1 per hour at IP. They even had Happy Hours when you would earn more. Turn those comps into a high fattening meal. Have a salad instead. Whoever brought up health insurance is on point.
If you drink or smoke weed or even worse, something much worse, than you should continue that behavior wherever you currently reside. Get some help and stay away from Vegas.
The women situation is Vegas seems bountiful.

Man I was tanked last night when I wrote that.
I imagine being in a 3+ bedroom townhome or condo. Living the dream with my best bud. Splitting most expenses. Not counting food, expenses are about $1200 a piece. We each have a bedroom and the 3rd room would be an office. Multiple monitors and tv screens. There would be a dry erase board. We would follow the same routine and do our research in this war room. Gamblers always think the catch lightning in a bottle when they start hitting and always think there is some system or strategy. And to a point there is. It mainly has to do with money management. After mining the books we would make connections there and strictly shop for the best lines. I would not want to bet more tan 2-3 outcomes per week. One or both of us would go to whichever casino made the most sense. Maybe we get comped here or get a half point there.
I would be happy not having to grind out at a job and have someone's signature on the paycheck on Friday. I am tired of that lifestyle. My entrepreneurial aspirations have been mildly successful but not enough to sustain a living. Not when I have mouths to feed.
But this dream of gambling for a living would probably at the end of the day, shorten my life span. In 2011 Finals, the last time I got over emotional about a loss was my lowest point. Win or lose, I rarely have any emotion and I guess that's a good thing going forward.
GL to you out there that are living and most of all, enjoying, what you are doing.
