anybody following any marijuana producers/companies/etc.

if it becomes legal, I'd assume some of these will pop significantly, and I've been reading some articles on CNBC about the possibility but have yet to see any companies mentioned.

thought?

Like what? Really don't think there any, at least not directly. Maybe some company makes the heat lamps to grow indoors? I dunno. Doubt there's much on the market that would have an impact.

there are a few, esp. in the states that have dispensaries now like CA. i've seen a couple tickers like CBIS but thats why i was asking the forum

funny thing is, i live in Cali but don't smoke. You know I am in finance and watch the market very closely but haven't paid attention to this movement at all and have started to hear some rumblings about legality. I'm just saying, if it's gonna happen I want to have a little exposure to the growers/producers.

POT is a great co and with inflation and commodities skyrocketing that a good place to be. I don't own it but wouldn't mind having it. I feel there are better plays though.

pot businesses trading on the stock markets? I'd rather stick with what we have had, prices for pot should drop like a rock

i'm talking from 400$ per OZ, down to more like 10-20$ tops per oz

i can grow more pot on an acre then soy or corn, so realistically price should drop down to something more like 10-20$ per pound

wont become legal in ca by latest polls and if it doesnt become legal there, will never become legal anywhere.

yea, we'll see what happens. thanks for the feedback. i always keep my nestegg and main brokerage accounts in the "safer" picks but i have a smaller account i just do speculative trading in so i may give 1 or two of these a go with a couple hundred bucks just to take a chance.

yea, im happy i didn't invest in anything most marijuana stocks are down 50% today b/c of the No vote....couldn't believe it didn't pass yesterday

There was a rumor (not sure if it's true or not) that Philip Morris (Altria) has had a MJ cigarette production facility already completed since the 80's with the assembly line ready to take off as soon as it is legalized.

That NO vote in California wasn't a failure - in fact 46% is very much a message because had that law been redone in a different fashion, it could have very well passed. In fact, if there were no such thing as medical mj in Cali, the prop would have passed no problem.

This is more so a message to the entire country, Colorado among a few other states are going to put a similar measure up next year.

What is taking so long is the government trying to decide how to milk this cash cow for as much of the profits they can. Had prop 19 been more about $$$ than pot, it would have absolutely passed.
