$20 mil to $10 mil is respectable for his status lol.

Thanks Westie....the mouthbreathers don't bother me perse....just having some fun
Teenagers are far worse.
Ironically, I don't even love Bill Belichick but respect he is one of the greatest just like Brady is one of the greatest. Take one of those parts away, sure, they won't have as much success. Brady down in TB had far superior receivers but again, found a coach that clicked and teammates that accepted him because if he doesn't get on with the coaches, the line etc....don't matter how good someone is.

"Basically, Belichick ¡ª who also served as Patriots general manager throughout his 24-year tenure with the organization ¡ª did not want anyone altering his personal strategy.
Taking that into consideration, it makes sense that Belichick would actually want to dive into the college game where he would essentially have full autonomy.
Belichick will be recruiting the players. He will decide who plays and who doesn't. He will get to impose his own system without a general manager breathing down his neck. And at this point, it is becoming increasingly likely that Belichick will never coach in the NFL ever again, especially with the ever-changing landscape of modern football."

I knew he was all about constructing and feeling the whole process....call it micromanaging but it worked for Patriots and so he hand selected and fit the pieces together. That makes him great too.

UNC will become the east coast version of the Jim Harbaugh/David Shaw successful Stanford years.
Bill will want talented players but with high football IQ. He wasn't a fan of showtime football in New England. I don't expect that to change. He will out coach everyone in the ACC. Its not going to be sexy football but it will be effective.

he contracted to change things around in unc in under 5 years and in a conf already with big name programs good luck with that. he's gone faster than they did to mack brown. and i'm a belicheck fan.

@maxwagers781
Disagree. Yes they have programs who used to have big name brands, but I think that the conference is in such disarray and coaches under performing, that Bill has the opportunity to turn UNC around quicker than you think. I'm taking Bill and UNC over Mario Cristobal and Miami any day of the week.

@AJ86
of the power 4 conf both the acc and sec had 13 teams each win .500 and better. that number beats big 10 and 12. looking at the bigger picture it can be argued that the acc is undervalued.

Good discussion.
I think Belichick might just bring back a great brand of football that gets young athletes ready for the NFL or life instead of these stupid tribal flag planting and showy bling players or coaches.
I guarantee you, he will start with the lines and build from there/then great 'backers, as well as excellent cornerbacks. Its his hallmark....the defense and offensive lines that can do it all for Brady. Check this out for influencing players on the Giants to become great:
"Taylor was an All-American at UNC and played under Belichick during most of his Hall of Fame career with the New York Giants.'

Bill is a Football junkie. Would not surprise me if he has been following College all season. And sure there will be some changes from the NFL, but alot of people are unaware that former coaches (Saban, Ferentz) worked under the Belichek coaching tree (ie. Cleveland Browns). Obviously they are not coming to coach with him, but they will be giving him advice on how to deal with these 18 year olds.

Just have enough players to rotate in and let them go to portal when they sulk and he will winnow the type of players he wants......imagine how petulant you look as a player going to the portal not wanting to play for one of the greatest coaches of all time and TxRangers now agrees with me

Belichick will be a miserable failure…He lost touch with professionals…How the hell will he relate to 18-22 year old semi professionals... NC is desperate so they hired another retread…has been…

He is definitely not rah rah but the tie to Saban is interesting and did Saban lose touch with his next or new player generation? Rolling up the sleeves was never an issue for those two and I don't think the new player and these cobbling together 'fantasy teams' via portal will completely be the solution either. Think about, who will be then considered a great coach on that basis? It then becomes whether you can keep your cobbled together egos in check and babysitting your way to a national title.
We don't know if he will be a failure until he is. You have to give him 3-5 years to see if he is in the playoff mix, but I sense people won't.
As a coach myself, I know you always stick to standards and methods that work/improve a player who can thrive both individually and within your system, and then let the chips fall where they may when it comes how the egos in the mix take to them and trust them. I never wanted my club team which was recruited all stars pretty much, to be the very best players because when you get them all together.....there is always 1-2 that hold back on your teaching and revert to saying 'this is not what I was taught or how our coach does it' haha.... and my response was, your coach never probably toured professionally as an athlete in this sport grinding out paycheques. Then I would show them ...do the same drills they did that were tough, when could (under 42 yrs old) and would do them for longer showing the technique as I went and they loved that but some would still scoff and never let go their full effort which was when I knew that that talented player had likely hit their mental ceiling when it came to being an athlete and I know that happens with teenagers and young men. They cower almost to alpha in the room who exposes their lack of toughness.
Belichick was a great lacrosse player and that is a tough sport to handle both the skill, endurance and violence that is required to survive.....it tells you something about him (I played a few years as a teenager. Its not a sport where you can thrive if you are not an alpha like human because every play is basically a roughing call in football haha including slashing and crosschecking constantly on your arms, head and upper torso). He will definitely find out who is tough enough to handle his practices and what will be expected of him
He would love guys like Scatterboo from Arizona St on his team....tough runners who run over people for extra yards and can block any defender
So I think he will be successful just like Harbaugh was who came from the NFL but knew how to recruit his type of player that could set up well with his system.

@TxRangers
You've right he's is a fraud but it had nothing to do with Brady he's a fraud too the success had to to with being AFC East with 3 bottom feeders for almost 20 years
I'd look at the Patriots schedule every year the record of the teams they faced looked like this 81 wins 175 loses .the whole league was garbage when they were winning these SBs
Its only a 3 game championship if you have a bye week and two home games every year of course you're going to win SBs any team can string three wins together .
The fact that the Patriots only won 6 with Brady and Belichick was actually pathetic the media sells it as something great and public buys in .
If Belichick and Brady were NY Jets instead of Patriots in that time frame they would have both won nothing .
And those that want to say Brady won a SB in Tampa he did it by throwing 3 consecutive 2nd half interceptions in NFC championship game at Green bay , you can suck as a QB and your team still wins the game .
Scott Pioli was the GM at the time he drafted the talent you could replace both Brady and Belichick with any average coach and QB and the results are the same or better.
I'm from Boston saw it all happen, the NFL is a garbage product its good to gamble not to make Gods out of these phonies like the media does and the public acts like 12 year olds with this s h I t .

Bill hired Michael Lombardi to be the 'general manager' of Tar Heel football. Lombardi is currently on VSIN. His show in the morning is called The Lombardi Line. Lombardi has earned 3 Super Bowl rings during his time in the NFL. Michael Lombardi explains the decision below.
Michael Lombardi is Joining Bill Belichick as the NEW General Manager of UNC Football ?? ??

@sundance
Lombardi was Belichick's deep throat for years planting things in media to make him look good.
Lombardi's a bag of wind with a bad wig failed a GM he gets a job on a gambling network doing a gambling show even though he says he don't gamble this shows how in demand this guy is.

@Silverstones....how many years do you give him to flop? Flop every year would be not making the PLAYOFFS before he leaves or retires
Lay a marker and I might do a side bet with you ...legit. I will always be on Covers. How many years before he makes the PLAYOFFS (12 teams)
Cmon big guy give me an OVER/UNDER line. Think about it and I may reach out with a message
