if it was that easy sergio wouldnt be a -220 as he would be more like a -500 like he was against dzinzurik

39-year-old martinez hasnt fought in over a year, coming off two consecutive knee and hand surgeries and has been arguably knocked down five times in his last three fights.

even though small cotto would probably lose to the top five jmws there is no way you can bet on a guy who is probably 50/50 to suffer and injury in the ring saturday night

2 consecutive fights with 2 consecutive injuries (Martinez) for an aging fighter is definitely not a good sign. In contrast Cotto looks like he is re-surging under the tutelage of Freddy.

I'll consider taking Cotto, if anything at all.

I don't think you can say Cotto is regurging after just one win vs a guy like Rodriguez. I love Cotto and he has had a historic career already but to be honest when he faces a guy who can really box he loses. Lost to Manny, floyd and even trout. I agree though if Martinez is anything under 75% cotto has a shot. I am not putting my money on Martinez I am putting my money on his health. Hope it works out for me.

His health is the reason it is only a small play for me nothing big if i lose i wont regret it to much.

And I wasn't exactly looking at how Rodriguez stacked up against Cotto, as much as I was examining Cotto's physical conditioning, and he looked very good I thought, very sharp. So now onto the real challenge, Segio.

Cotto's height listed at 5'8 when he is really 5'7 or shorter. Sergio standing at 5'10

Cotto's reach 65". Martinez Reach 75"

Cotto weighing in at 155lb. Sergio pretty much at the catchweight limit 158.8 lbs.

The REAL question is what will Martinez rehydrate to come fight night

Take a look at the weigh in pictures....Martines looks so much bigger... Cotto and roach bit off more than they can chew here...,PAC man and trout both beat cotto convincingly both southpaws...like maravilla here good luck

the real question has nothing to do with what sergio will rehydrate to by tomorrow.

the only question is how his body will hold up and if he is somewhere between murray(600 punches) and chavez(900 punches) he will win

murray- cotto has a chance

chavez- cotto has very little chance if any

by the photos martinez physically looks like he had a good camp

agreed

14 months off for a torn miniscus and for his non-operated shoulder should be enough rest for sergio.

buddy mcgirt had shoulder surgery after sweet pea and was fighting six months later

martinez went into the murray fight with a bad knee and shoulder and his effort still wouldve beaten small cotto that night

I think Martinez wins this... maybe competitive for the first 4-6 rounds, but once a true middlweight's power takes its toll on Cotto, it will be trouble for the Puerto Rican...

Cotto has been knocked down numerous time throughout his career by smaller fighters...granted quicker than Martinez...but this will be the most devastating power he faces in his career... against a taller opponent who can and will dictate the pace and control the ring...

Martinez def has a chip on his shoulder and a little jealousy toward Cotto if you guys have watched the sit down with Kellerman....

I like Martinez!

I forgot to post a pick but i thought sergios speed would be too much. I thought hed win 8 rds to 4 at least maybe 9-3.

I was wrong I have to admit that. Cotto looked good but on the other hand Martinez looks like he has nothing left. Time for him to hang up the gloves.
