Still battling to be on the NCAA Tournament bubble, Georgetown (18-12, 8-9 Big East) stumbled out of the gate as the Blue Demons took control. A Jagan Mosely 3-pointer brought Georgetown to within 7-5 at the 18:51 mark of the first half before DePaul responded with a 12-0 run over the next 3:49.
Georgetown came within 14 points with 11:28 to play in the game, but DePaul again had the answer, scoring 26 of the next 28 points. Mac McClung and James Akinjo scored 13 apiece for the Hoyas, who trailed by as many as 38 down the stretch.
DePaul used torrid first-half shooting to take a 54-31 lead into the break, and led by as many as 27 points along the way. The Blue Demons shot 17 of 35 (48.6 percent) from the field.
Strus drilled five treys in the first 20 minutes en route to 17 first-half points. The junior guard picked up where he left off from Sunday's home victory against St. John's, when he scored a career-high 43 points to become the first Blue Demon to eclipse 40 points since 2006.
The Blue Demons went 12-6 at Wintrust Arena this season to secure their first winning home record since 2014-15. Georgetown leads the all-time series between the schools, 31-10.
