Mike Miles scored 16 points, all but three of those after halftime, and keyed a definitive second-half run as TCU remained unbeaten with a 63-50 win over visiting Nicholls State on Thursday in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Horned Frogs trailed by 13 points early in the second half before forging a 22-3 run over a 12-minute stretch to assume a 47-41 lead. TCU never let the Colonels get closer than four points the rest of the game.
The Horned Frogs won even though they shot just 37.7 percent and allowed Nicholls 14 offensive rebounds.
Micah Peavy added 10 points for TCU (3-0). Five other players scored at least six points for the Horned Frogs.
Ty Gordon led Nicholls State (3-2) with 12 points, with Latrell Jones and Devante Carter adding 11 each.
The Horned Frogs dominated the first seven and a half minutes, leading 10-2 after a 3-pointer by JaKobe Coles at the 12:37 mark. Nicholls responded with a 16-2 run over the ensuing six and a half minutes; Latrell Jones' dunk created an 18-12 advantage.
TCU answered with a 6-2 surge that cut the Colonels' lead to 20-18 before Jones hit consecutive 3-pointers and then added another dunk with seven seconds left to push Nicholls State's lead to nine points.
Francisco Farabello was fouled while shooting as the horn for the half sounded, and he canned all three free throws to provide the Horned Frogs a huge momentum shift despite trailing 30-24 lead at the break.
Jones led all scorers with 10 points in the first half. Farabello, Coles and Miller paced the Horned Frogs with five points each.
The Colonels pushed their advantage to a game-high 13 points, at 38-25, on a 3-pointer by Gordon at the 17:21 mark of the second half. But the next four minutes belonged to TCU as it ran off 13 straight points to tie the contest at 38.
