Jaden Shackelford scored 26 points as Alabama ended a three-game losing streak by knocking off No. 13 LSU 70-67 on Wednesday night in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Jahvon Quinerly added 17 points and Keon Ellis scored 12 for the Crimson Tide (12-6, 3-3, SEC).
Tari Eason scored 26 points and Brandon Murray added 19 to lead the short-handed Tigers (15-3, 3-3). They were playing their third consecutive game without third-leading scorer Xavier Pinson and saw second-leading scorer and leading rebounder Darius Days miss the second half because of an apparent ankle injury.
Alabama outscored LSU by 12 points at the foul line after taking 17 more attempts.
LSU used a 14-1 run to tie the score at 58, but Shackelford's jumper started a 7-0 run that gave the Tide a 65-58 lead with 2:45 left.
Alabama, which was 0-for-15 on 3-pointers in the second half, missed two field goals and four consecutive free throws before Murray's 3-pointer got the Tigers within 68-67 with eight seconds left.
Ellis made two free throws to push the lead to three and Eric Gaines missed a 3-pointer for LSU at the buzzer.
The lead changed hands six times early in the second half before Ellis' three-point play helped the Tide open a 47-41 lead.
Eason made one of two free throws and a layup to pull the Tigers within five points, but Shackelford made a layup and seven free throws to give Alabama a 57-44 lead with 8:06 left.
Gaines made three consecutive 3-pointers to trim the lead to 57-53.
Quinerly made one of two free throws, but Murray made a 3-pointer and Eason added two free throws to tie the score for the last time.
Quinerly, Shackelford and Darius Miles each made a 3-pointer during a 9-0 run that gave Alabama an 18-14 lead.
Efton Reid's jumper tied the score at 21 before Ellis' five points helped Alabama take a 29-23 lead.
Eason converted a four-point play, cutting the Alabama lead to 33-32 at halftime.
