Inter Miami hopes to return to winning ways when they host St. Louis City on Saturday. The Herons fell 3-1 to Atlanta United on Wednesday night, ending a 10-match unbeaten run. Lionel Messi scored their only goal and is confirmed to be available for the match on Saturday.

Inter Miami CF vs St. Louis City SC picks and predictions
My best bet:
Inter Miami to win and both teams to score (+154 at TonyBet)
My analysis
Given the price of -200 for both teams to score in this match and the fact Inter Miami is -179 on the 3-way money line, the combination of the two should be priced closer to +135. But TonyBet is offering the play at +154, which is why I’m not hesitating to make it my best bet.
Inter Miami rested their biggest names last weekend when they made the long trek to Vancouver. But it was the rest of the team that looked a step off as they lost mid-week to a struggling Atlanta United side.
The Herons didn’t close down quickly enough on Saba Lobjanidze, as he scored not once but twice from outside the box. They were late to 50-50 balls, repeatedly dribbled past, out-tackled, and had fewer than half the shots of their opponents.
Now they come back on just three days rest to take on St. Louis City. And while the visitors are absolutely struggling, they’ll take hope in what Atlanta was able to do.
That said, Atlanta was buoyed by the return of playmaker Thiago Almada and St. Louis won’t have that kind of boost. They’ve lost three straight matches, but they’ve scored in each of the last two with goals in the final 10 minutes.
And while they’re winless away from home in all competitions — with four draws and three defeats — they’ve scored in six of those contests. The only failure to do so was a scoreless stalemate in Houston. In their six MLS trips from home, they’ve managed to find the back of the net 10 times.
More importantly, they’re well rested. St. Louis City didn't have a midweek fixture, which will give them some thrust going forward. They have a serious goal-scoring threat in striker Joao Klauss, whose 51 shots this season are fifth-most in the league and are one more than Lionel Messi has taken.
Inter Miami knows their window with Messi is closing quickly. Copa America is just a few weeks away, and the play of Luis Suarez could see him called up by Uruguay as well. That means they must take as many points as possible, and they’ve spoken the past few days about bouncing back.
I anticipate them doing so, but not without conceding at some point.

Lionel Messi odds
There’s extreme variance on Messi to score, with prices ranging from -138 to -225. He found the back of the net against Atlanta, his first goal in three matches, and it’s driven his price back up. This is likely his final match before leaving for Copa, and many expect him to score.
Messi took just four shots in the loss, and it helped his price come down a bit. You’ll still need to bet on 5+ shots to get a decent price, but there’s serious variance there, too, so shop around. Right now I’m seeing anywhere from -120 to -230 for five or more efforts.
Inter Miami CF vs St. Louis City SC same-game parlay (SGP)
bet365 has by far the best price on the market for a Messi goal, and it’s helping boost our odds for the same-game parlay. He’s feeling the pressure with his impending departure for international duty, and he should get a goal against a St. Louis defense that has conceded 16 goals in seven away matches in all competitions.
Klauss will find space against Inter Miami’s defense on the counter, as many teams have. Atlanta’s three forwards each took 3+ shots on Wednesday, with Lobjandidze registering five and Almada posting another four. I’ll bank on Klauss pushing his streak of outings with 4+ shots to seven matches.
