Hats off to Michael Cheika. To see the exuberance and sheer fun that the Tahs players have displayed in recent weeks, and no more so than last Sunday, is a breath of fresh air. For decades we've grown accustomed to grim faced sports professionals "going about their business" or having "a tough day at the office". Get real. They're paid plenty to do what the rest of us enjoy doing (and pay to do) in our free time. It's not like they putting corn flakes on our table - they're entertainers. However more often than not you could be excused for thinking they have the weight of the world on their shoulders.
Alas the Tahs right now are not like that. They're more like kids at a 6 year olds birthday party. Folau must have scored more tries than he could possibly remember but he had a grin from ear to ear, high 5's, teammates hugging and laughing when he scored yet another one yesterday. These guys are having an absolute ball and it's contagious through the team and the fans. There are lots of things that combine to create this sort of feeling within a team but it can never be achieved without the right coach.
Provided key players (Hooper, Polota Nou, Palu, Foley, Beale, Ashley-Cooper, Folau) remain uninjured they will surely give this comp one helluva shake. I think there is sufficient depth to cover the over positions.
I'm getting off the track, which is to get on the paddock, the court, the water, the pitch, whatever your sport, professional or amateur and have fun out there.
