Tough punting matchups this weekend - my thoughts for what they're worth.
SA v Wales - Too many variables for me to be betting this game. Boks have been good and bad and I don't know that they are mentally fine tuned. Wales have been belted from pillar to post but just keep giving. Boks at their best are a genuine Cup winning chance which I don't think Wales are. Heart will again carry Wales a long way, as will Biggar's boot, but Boks will prevail. Any margin from 1 to 30 wouldn't surprise me.
NZ v France - Which France will turn up? A no bet game.
Ireland v Argentina - Ireland minus O'Connell, Sexton, O'Mahony and presumably O'Brien are ripe for the picking. Argentina have been flying under the radar. Putting AB's to the sword in pool play was no fluke. The Pumas are a much improved side who have been both physically and mentally toughened by their Rugby Championship inclusion. Wrong side favourite in this one IMO.
Aust v Scotland - Scotland side simply not good enough. A win, while presumably resting players, is all Wallabies want from this game, margin irrelevant. While I can remember that wet night in Newcastle, I can't see Australia losing.
One QF bet only for me this weekend (at this stage) - Argentina H2H @ $2.55
Good punting all

Wow, what a fright. Our old Achilles heel, goal-kicking, almost came back to bite us but in the end it was Foleys boot that put us into the semis. The Scots were magnificent in defeat. Tidier and more clinical at the breakdown, they played an expansive game that I for one didn't see coming. Capitalising on some poor errors and knocking over kicks (thank God he missed one) the Scots did everything in their power to hang around for another week. I've never won anything without getting out of gaol along the way and hopefully this, like the Landsowne Road game in 1991, will prove to be a stepping stone on the way to reclaiming the ultimate prize.
As for the punt, the Argies performed as I had anticipated and topped up the wallet and a nice price.

Scotland +16.5 ended up being one of the easiest covers of the tourney. I wanna see a tape of this so-called penalty, it's sounds fishy, 79th penalty for offside and they didn't even use the TMO, when at the start of the tourney they were using TMO on the fly for every f'n pass.

Don't think he could go to the TMO unless it was for foul play or to do with a try being scored, which it wasn't. Unlucky for the Scots but I think the decision was correct.

Yeah, I didn't see it. Ok. I understand he couldn't go to the TMO himself but the TMO has been interjecting about forward passes and what not, at least they were in the early games.
