Not a big poker player, but I have played a few thousand hands over the years. I figured that I would sit awhile at a .50/1.00 table and see what happened. Here is what happened:
Bought in for 50 bucks and caught a nice heater up to 175. Won a few hands, bet aggressively and chased some guys off of decent pots. Everything looked honest.....betting made sense, and I was getting quality cards.
Then it all came unwound. Twice over the course of an hour I had high pair kings cracked with pocket A's...both guys limped in, no flush draw or straight on the board. I bet these hands conservatively, and was never raised once.....with pocket Aces.
After that, had trip 9's beaten by a flush catch on the river.....guy had a 4 6 suited and called for half his roll on the turn.......put him all in and naturally he caught the flush on the river. Nobody bets like that unless they know what is coming.....flush your entire roll on a flush draw with low cards and no pair or straight??????
And then it happened again. This time I have top 2 pair Aces and queens on the flop. Went in agressive, raised 10$ on the big blind......guy calls with 7/9 diamonds. Flop top 2 pair Aces/Q's......go balls out again, pot raise. He calls........on a fucking flush draw, with no pair or straight on the board.....turn is 2 of spades. I push all in, he calls immediately. With nothing.....the guy calls an all in with nothing....50$ bet with rags??? And you guessed it......catches a flush on the River. Fucking joke.
So, I started by going up 125 and ended up losing 50. That is the last time that I will play online poker. Absolute joke, there is no way that I am the only one that can see my cards.

Online poker is no different than online casinos. I would venture to say that the same evil technical bastards program both to maximize the house's profits. And throw in a few bots and they hit the mother lode.

The cards weren't really the issue...it was the way the betting went down...it made no sense at all, unless you knew what was going to fall.
Bad beats happen....but the betting structure of limping in and becoming pot committed needing running cards for the flush is bullshit. Not to mention that different players were pulling the same crap, in succession.
But hey, if you want to believe that people running the online poker gaming world are above setting up profitable scenarios for themselves then you are welcome to all of the online games you can play.
And by the way, it makes no difference if you "double up and leave" and then come back later.....you are still going to come back. The only thing that kind of thinking is good for is your self esteem...you get to look at your account balance for a few hours and feel like a winner.
