poker sites don't give out free money either. these "bad beat" pots only offer a temporary feeling of happiness as it is programmed into the system to make sure that you lose that money back. and you will.

electric, I have a question.
Where does the money for those "Bad Beat Jackpots" come from? I have heard stories about full tables winning 10's of thousands of dollars for Bad Beats.
I never quite understood how that worked.

bad beat jackpots tables take a higher rake each hand. the site gets their normal rake and the jackpot gets the additional rake. so you're paying extra rake for the hopes of the bad beat. that isn't free money from the site
cash out curse rumor comes up again. let's play this game again, is it option 1 or option 2
Option 1-
you just cashed out a big amount of money, you're happy that you won, you have a smaller stack, you play looser because you want to gamble and build your stack back up, therefore you get yourself into bad situations and lose quicker
ooooor...
Option 2-
the site tracked your cash out (one of probably a couple hundred thousand that day), is pissed off about it, gives you bad cards so that you lose and forces you to buy in again. but that would mean that you have to be somehow programmed to play against people that haven't recently cashed out, otherwise you both can't lose at the same time. oh and you have to be programmed to play against people that haven't recently cashed out and they have to have slightly worse hands than you to start with, and they have to make sure that those people call your hands all the way to the river (they do this with telepathy i think) so that you can suffer your bad beat and cash back in quicker. And they have to be careful to only give this curse to those that they know will buy back in later. because otherwise they are wasting their time flushing all your money to other people if you aren't going to buy back in. they have to risk that you are so stupid that will "know" they are cursing you but you still have the ignorance to buy back in to just get cursed again later.
everyone is so certain about this cash out curse. so if you cash out, why don't you take a week off. then start playing again. or is the site too smart for that. they track your account (your measly $500 account, which means NOTHING) and they flag it forever so that the next time you play you get bad beats? really, you think so? sounds like a lame excuse for loosening up your play
