So generally this time of year I would be gearing up for some NBA and the Aussie Leagues but they have been pushed back. The Aussie ladies begin on 12 November and they are going into a 6 week bubble. Only 14 games and then playoffs, the latest they can finish is 20 December. The Aussie men, well they are aiming for late January, early February because they want their teams to play in front of their home fans on their home courts. So with that being said, I started to look into European basketball and where the majority of the girls from the WNBA go to. Most go to Russia (for the big dollars) and Turkey but some quality players do filter into the French league. Certain players like;
Cheyenne Parker (Chicago Sky)
Bridget Carleton (Minnesota Lynx)
Myisha Hines-Allen (Washington Mystics)
Julie Allemand (Indiana Fever)
Marissa Coleman (formerly with the NY Liberty
Valeriane Ayayi (2015 with San Antonio Stars
Evelyn Akhator (spent 2017 with Dallas Wings)
Marinne Johannes (NY Liberty)
Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe (NY Liberty)
Jazmine Jones (NY Liberty)
Kim Mestdagh (Washington Mystics)
Haley Peters (2019 Atlanta Dream)
Ana Dabovic (2015-16 LA Sparks)
And then there are so many European international players as well such as Celine Dumerc (played on season in WNB 2014), Isabelle Yacoubou, Promise Amukamara, Ana Tadic, Elin Eldebrink and the list goes on. I tried to look into the Turkish and the Russian leagues but their websites are pretty poor where the French ladies is pretty good. The season is already underway with the majority of international players already in the league after having to be in quarantine.
Looking at the rosters, there is a clear indication that there are some big heavy teams stacked with amazing talent and then there are others who appear to be looking into their futures with some bright new future stars. Either way, I think this league has some very good talent playing and believe that I should cap this league
