Hey. I¡¯m just looking for some feedback. Monday night I hopped on the Panthers. I lost a huge bet. I¡¯m just wondering how bad of a bet it was. Did the linesmakers want us on the Panthers or not? The line was going back and forth from -170 to -175. It opened at -190. When I saw the original -190 overnight, I thought to myself if they drop it to something like -175, I was pretty confident they were trying to quiet it down but also still keep it pricey. Usually that¡¯s what I feel like they¡¯re doing with a -175 line. Obviously not all the time tho and I¡¯m wondering if this was not one of the times. If not, I wonder why not leave it at a -190 or even something like -180 -185. They had the Rangers at -215, a line I¡¯ve always loved but I stayed off of it because of the Blues coaching change. They also had the Kings at -250, not sure what it went off at tho because I was too busy hating my life. I like jumping all over ugly juicy lines and I managed to stay off of both of these. They had many other options for us such as the Devils right below at -160, the Islanders below them at -150. They had the Knights above a few lines at -140.. Also the Kraken later on at -150. So a lot of other options around this -175 line. I felt like the line was being put at -175 to make it harder for us to jump on. After taking the loss, it made me feel like they were serving it up to us on top of the slightly lower lines. After seeing the Rangers and LA lose tho, I¡¯m really not sure what the deal is. Were the Panthers supposed to win this game? Was it not a good spot to jump on the Panthers at a-170/-175 line? With the Caps doing so well so far with a 13-6-1 record, they could have had this line anywhere no? -160, -150, -140.. I feel like it¡¯s tougher to hop on the bet at -175 rather than if it was lower. Maybe I¡¯m wrong. I do not know atm so that¡¯s why I¡¯m looking for any thoughts or opinions out there. I know they use -185 to push bettors off a team, I feel like they use -175 to do the same sometimes, like I said above, just quiet it down but still keep it pricey to hop on. I actually feel like if they had this line at -180 or -185 more bettors are jumping on. I¡¯ve had success on this -175 line however sometimes I get burned with it like right here. So I¡¯m just trying to figure out if I run into this same situation again, am I supposed to stay off this line. Such a sick game. Caps are obv banged up but are playing well. I think they are overachieving. With them being on the road in Florida after losing the past 7 Vs the Panthers. I felt pretty confident in the bet. Did Florida just let me down or was the line on the trap side of things?

Florida had lost 5 of 6 coming into that game and were not scoring. Taking a struggling team at -175 is dangerous. The great and extremely missed Lippsman would tell you absolutely never bet an NHL line above -140. If you like that team...parlay it or play the -1 or puck line to reduce juice.
Caps are smoking hot early this season and are overachieving only according to the pre-season prognosticators. They seem to have gelled as a team and play a pretty heavy game themselves.
I don't think the line itself is the problem. Upsets in the NHL are a daily occurrence.
Good luck.

This is interesting 1st post to huh? I think the Panthers were a let down everybody not giving the Craps any credit with Ovie being out although he's not the only piece there in Washington when you have players performing so well like C. McMichael,Oshie, Protas,Strome, Wilson, Sandin, Carlson, Chychrun with LT and Lindgren where is the Respect for these players that are Playing well without Ovie? I forgot Mangiapane too this team is loaded that's my opinion.
