The main question in this game is who's more likely to get pressure on the quarterback, and not who will outscore the other. Just 2 weeks ago against the Bucs, the Panthers maintained only 300 yards of offense and was dominated in time of possession. Newton was sacked 3 times and they were 20% on third down. They recover against New Orleans allowing only one sack and gaining an edge in T.O.P and 3rd down % (50%). The difference in the 2 games was the fact that Newton felt pressure against Tampa but not against New Orleans.
The Giants on the other hand enhance their winning % by running the ball. New Orleans averaged 6.0 yards per carry last week against them and they watched Doug Martin have a fine debut against them in weak 1. Of Course take into consideration that Bradshaw is either out or limited, but if the Giants run the football and they can do what they want with that secondary.
To the point about pressuring Newton, we all know what the Giants front 4 can do to opposing quarterbacks and who would think this would change Thursday. Newton's ability to become a passer is very limited when a defense can get pressure with 4-5 and have extra coverage in the secondary. Clearly Amukamura needs to play better
The main concern for the Giants is the inconsistency in the play-calling when considering the offense. Sometimes 'KillDrive' forgets that sometimes the pass creates the potential to run and not the other way around. This is important because New York will need sustained drives against the Panther defense. When a real offense in New Orleans showed up in Carolina last week they rolled em up for just under 500 yards.
Conclusion: The Giants get after Newton including his part in the run game and force 3rd down situations he can't get out of. The run sets that the Panthers have are through shotgun formations and if the Giants penetrate the point where the run-option occrs, Carolina is going to be in trouble. New York should be able to toy with the Panther defense if the play calling is correct. If all other things make it equal and I'm wrong, I have a 2 time Super bowl champ and MVP to win it for me in the 4th quarter..give me the

Its easy to say the front 4 on the G-men will get after Cam. But they have only had 4 sacks this year. Something seems different about there line this year. Maybe its the DT that have been out?. But bradshaw, Diel, and hixon r doutful so there not going to play, considering the short week. Giants O-line has not been good this year either. Was listening to ESPN radio this morning they said they have other injuries to the Oline. Either way this will be a great game and cant wait to be drunk and in the stands tommorow night. BOL
Also saints had 500 yards, 150 came in 4th qtr when down 15. They only scored 21 points in 3 qtr's. Prevent D aloud them to score the last td. Panthers D is a lot better then it was last year. Giants D is nothing to brag about either 34 points to tampa, when panthers only gave up 16 points.

I think they both manage to score points on eachother but the Giants have more of an ability to stop the run and create turnovers...with a proven crunchtime qb i think the best value is to take the Giants on the short week..GL

i agree they havent but they have a better chance at stopping Carolina than the Panthers do the Giants....I think the athleticism of the Giants D-Line matches up great against that type of run game and offense
