Why is Ceasers Palace $5k/night for March Madness?

Just looked on expedia and all hotels seem to be just a little more than normal, but Ceasers is out of control. No joke $5k-$10k.

Was looking at 3/17-3/19

I know where I'm not staying

They're booked up other than some swanky suites you have to call about from what I can see. Even going to Harrahs.com doesn't show anything available, unless you've got a rewards card.

Looks like you won't find many under $100.00 per night.

I will be there for the first 4 days of March Madness hope you can make it.

Just stay at Hooters, and walk over to MGM for your wagers. Cheap, and lets face it...we're not in our rooms 90% of the time anyway.

Mandalay Bay has PLENTY of rooms available for those dates at less than $250 per night...and why would you want to experience the first weekend of March Madness anywhere else BUT Mandalay Bay?.....it's the only sportsbook to be at for that weekend....

Hey VG, don't you feel somewhat removed from the strip at Mandalay Bay? I'm more of a center strip guy. Move from casino to casino. Don't get me wrong MB is great but I like the feel of the of being in the center of the strip.

Wilbur.....

Free tram from Mandalay goes to Luxor then Excalibur...cross the Strip to The Trop and Hooters...cross Tropicana to NY-NY....next door Monte Carlo has free tram to Aria and Bellagio....cross the Strip to Paris and walk through to Caesars.....

I could go on; but you get the picture.....THE STRIP is, basically, from Mandalay Bay to The Wynn......getting around, free, and with a little walking or using the moving escalators is a piece of cake.

I see your point. I'm just a little old school and cheap. I get my room comped at the IP. Even though it feels like I'm sleeping on a piece of plywood, I cant pass up the free room. We like to roll back and forth between Harrahs and The Coast (i refuse to call it Bill's) and occasionally crossing the street to the Mirage. That's the beauty of Vegas...something for everyone.

the madness will be in full swing this time next month- anxious to get a feel of mandalay bay - will also get a lot of work in old school style downtown at the cortez with the legendary "bird man"- of course numerous calls back east to my hard working local (and the best in the biz in my humble opine) for the best number available-

The Cortez is quite the place to say the least. Been there the last 2 times I've been out there. $3 craps and some of the most "interesting" people you've ever seen gambling. Low ceilings and smoke along with the smell of the patrons give that place quite the atmosphere.

In my last few Vegas visits I am not sure I have ventured further up the strip than Casino Royal ($1 Michelobs) or any further down the strip than Paris.

I view the strip like a woman. Can look very good on the top and and the bottom but it is the middle is where I like to spend most of my time.

I'm looking at either first and second rounds 18th, 19th, 20th or regionals 25th, 26th, 27th... which weekend would the rooms be at a higher premium, and which one is the bigger draw?

First weekend is a must do. Get out there late Wed or early Thurs and stay until Monday. You wont regret it.

Agree. Thats why I stay at the Wynn or Flamingo. Perfect locations.

Next time you're in Vegas I would go a tad further past Paris & make sure to check out the Pleasure Pit @ Planet Hollywood.

extra perk of going the first rounds is that opening day (thursday) is also st. patty's day

my buddies were there last year and said it was crazy, although this will be my first time to vegas so im pretty pumped

Had a quick question, I'm gonna be in Vegas for the entire March Madness and I was just wondering what the rule on labtops being brought into the sportsbook are? Never really seen anyone bring em in but I didn't know if there were any rules prohibiting them from being brought in and used in there. Anyone know? And also where would be the best place to go, fastest lines (I like to put bets in fairly last second), free drinks, etc etc? Thanks
