why cant we use cell phones????

any casino where the area to use phone not to far from action???

they changed that "no cell phones in sportsbooks" law a couple years ago. it was originally passed by the State of Nevada because people like "the computer group" were finding "middles" by playing the spread differentials between books. cell phone industry raised so much hell that they finally dropped it.

there may be individual books that still have it as a rule BUT it's NOT a state law anymore.

As far as the book is concerned...You may use your cell phone, even laptops anywhere in the sportsbook with the exception of when you are on line waiting to make a bet and when you are at the counter. The writer is not allowed to have a transaction with you if you are on your cell talking or even looking at a text message. Additionally, if you are wearing earphones or bluetooth, you will (or should be) asked to take them out of your ear.

Having said that...If you are a regular and multi-dime bettor, most supervisors look the other way if you're on your cell at the counter.

As to the tables, that is more relaxed. Based upon the table, your play, others at the table....cell phones do get used. Each casino tends to be different on this.

The NGC (Nevada Gaming Commission) is tougher in the sportsbook area than they are at the tables.
