The most interesting thing that I heard today was that it was done during shift change....3-4am....Which could make it an inside job.
Cashing large denomination chips is, in itself, not always easy. Over 10dimes requires identification...even under that, and with large denomination chips, you get asked where you were playing and, many times, the pit boss is called for verification. If security cameras cannot verify your play....then you have a problem.

I was wondering the same thing...
I don't see how they could trace those exact chips tho. Any of us could have chips from the Bellagio that we took home from our last trip... Unless the chips he took were unique to a certain table or part of the casino...???
I mean, if I showed up there today with $10k in chips, they'd have to gimme my money right?
I dont know if casino chips are uniquely marked or not.

Henry is right....not certain what the minimum amount is for tracing....but think it's 5,000 chips....
No casino in Vegas will take Bellagio chips now.....the only place to unload them is at The Bellagio...seems very tough
