Gamble,
For what it's worth I usually incorporate weekends due to football betting. However, one time I hit up the Golden Nugget for business during the week (summer). It was cheaper for airfare, rooms, and the tables and restaurants were less crowded.
My 2 cents: If you want the party scene, a weekend is a must. If you just want to gamble with less crowds, mid-week may be the play. Just know that it will probably be an older, slower crowd.

How much older usually is the crowd?

Right around my age and up: 35+. True disclosure though...I was in downtown vice the strip during that mid-week trip. Also, it was my only mid-week experience.
I still had fun though. Fun is what you make it. Women are still women on weeknights. The dealers (blackjack) are more fun and talkative with less crowds as well, IMO.

Golden Nugget in downtown. NC1 Capper is a huge fan of the Nugget as well. I've stayed at the Stratosphere once (too far north on the strip), MGM many times, and the Mandalay Bay just last weekend. The Nugget is just as good for the value, IMO. I only spent about 5 hours a night in my MB room, anyway.
Check out the Mandalay Book if you have time. It's an experience. Also, I didn't have the opportunity, but Ellis Island is supposed to be decent (not gourmet) food at a great price.
Good luck!

You don't get worse food, bad drinks, losing bets (maybe)..just because it's a Tuesday....Yes, some of the hotter clubs (those that don't open until 10pm on Thus-Sat nites) are not open...but there are many super lounges..like Mix at theHotel which can be wonderful during the week...
AND...as mentioned with the dealers reactions....waitstaff and bartenders are quite happy to have business on a slow night...tips do add up....service can be a lot more personal and less rushed...and, if you're not a "playa"...midweek is perfect...

LOVE IT during the week. Notjhing beats rolling into Vegas checkin into a 20something dollar a night room in the Tuscany or El Co and chilling out putting some bets on. Great living on the West Coast and making every trip stop through Vegas.
My next trip will be 11 days 2 midweeks and a weekend. I had last weekend booked in the MGM but had a bad 5 figure run and had to regroup and cancel it hopefully I can make it before football season and stay a little longer than Id be able to in the fall when you have go for Saturdays.
Ive never been to sin city to party, been 5 times all have been either on the way to LA or specific to a sporting event and me wanting to waste none of my gambling budget on other stuff. Still an enjoyable time with none of the clubbing partying scene.
