Staying at Wynn for Super Bowl

Usually stay across the street at Palazzo but change of pace this time.

I will be with my 88 year old Dad and he cannot walk all that far. He is too proud for a little cart. Hence, we will be dining in the Wynn or Encore (can he make it to the other side? how far is it?)

Looking at the restaurants in the Wynn, any suggestions?

You picked the best resort on the strip. He can walk from Wynn to Encore without stepping outside. Its a long hallway but cant tell you exactly how long, maybe 1/4 mile?

The buffet for breakfast and dinner is the best on the strip. Society Cafe inside Encore has great inovative food for breakfast (frosted flake french toast) and dinner. If you enjoy dueling pianos the eastside lounge at encore has two guys everynight who do an excellent job.

If you like pizza there is a spot called Pizza Place inside the esplanade that has great thin crust pizza, garlic knots and meatball sliders.

SW Steakhouse is a great place for a steak. Tableau inside Wynn is one of the hidden gems in vegas for any meal but especially for breakfast. I dont know what they do to the panckaes there but they are damn good I havnt had better pancakes anywhere else. Tableau use to be a restaraunt only for people staying in their tower suites, I think, but they now have it open to the public.

If the weather is decent sitting outside at the country club is nice

They have a restaraunt called Sinatra that suppose to be excellent but havnt been there yet. Limited menu.

Best dealers on the strip IMO. Palazzo and Venetian have great dealers too.

I think its great your father is 88 years old and still enjoys vegas with you. Get him on here and tell us some storys from 40 years ago when he was out there :-). You must be proud.

My Dad was a big gambler in his time but he lost a friend to suicide because of gambling debts about 30 years ago and it really changed his views. Cannot blame him.

That said he will come to the dice table for one roll usually each trip. He puts one hundred on the pass line and rolls the bones, old school.

He plays no numbers or odds ( I know, his system not mine) and if he wins he doubles it up. If he wins again he doubles it up. If he hits that he takes the $800 and walks.

So here is the good part. We are in this terrible dice slump one trip and the old guy shows up. We all are begging him to throw because we are all crapping out like crazy. Well, you know where this is going.

He rolls the first number and then spends about 20 minutes trying to hit his point. We are all over the numbers and such like crazy and making money hand over fist. He finally hits the point and the place goes crazy. He doubles it up and the same thing happens. Now you know what these craps rolls can get like and now the old guy is like 30 minutes into it. The table is tilting from all the money on the damn thing and each roll is taking forever to get everyone paid. Now, he is old and a SOB WWII vet and cantankerous. He only has his $200 line bet and wants to get the dice so he can throw again. Also, he cannot find a place to throw as the money (chips) is covering all the numbers and such. HE STARTS CUSSING EVERYONE OUT, THE BOSSES THE OTHER PLAYERS,ME  (YOU KNOW FAMILY).

Well everyone is making money and dice players are karma crazy so they are almost sucking his dick, anything, just keep rolling. Finally he hits the point again. Bam!- He bumps to the $400 and here we go again. Yo 11 one roll- BAM HE HITS IT .

The place erupts again and he, yes, he scoops up the $800 and says" thanks a lot guys " and tries to leave, still in the middle of this insane roll! If you throw the dice, you understand what happens next.

The high rollers are begging him to stay. They are offering him greens and blacks on the pass line, just keep throwing please, please.

Well, the old man does not know what  to do. He has his three passes and he always leaves here........

that said, the money is free so he throws them again.........

first roll number (say 6) second roll  7 OUT

He looks at them with contempt pats his $800 and walks away.

He tells me the next day, "that is how you do it my boy"

wynn is first class in every aspect.

Had a great time at the Wynn-

Meter kind of heavy there, was taken aback at 14 dollar drinks and 30 dollar glasses of wine but wtf, it is a 5 star hotel.

Service top to bottom was awesome, even the maid was nice.

Ate at Sinatras which was solid but not spectacular.

The buffet was nice for Sunday brunch.

Red eight was a good choice and much more reasonable than some of the other restaurants.
