Gents - 1/6-9. Cabby asked if we wanted the scenic route or direct - we said straight to the Monte Carlo - $25 - I didn't think that was too bad. Got there at 4pm - no traffic to the hotel. Cab ride back to the airport - $12 
Monte Carlo was a solid B or B+ strip hotel/casino. We got the room for $75 per night plus a $15 "resort fee". Pretty lame - just tell me the price per night if there is no opt-in/out option.
The rooms were decent sized and we got a room that was at the end of a hall and on the 21st floor with a great view of the mountains. The rooms were clean and had an ok shower. My only complaint is the thin walls and nasty smell from the bathroom sink. Only smelled when we ran water but it was really dank. Bed was very comfortable and the room had a decent flat panel tv.
The sports book was very small scale but I liked it. It was not very busy so they had the VIP back sofa areas open which was a nice place to camp out for the wildcard games. The ticket agents were competent and the book was liberal with drink coupons when I asked politely and tipped. Otherwise - schmucks were told 1 drink coupon per $100 bet. One huge LED tv that had a bad lag during fast pace game action - but tolerable. Several smaller HD tvs good variety of games. No wait to place wagers.
The casino had everything you would need and was relatively clean. Had a decent a ventilation system that sucked most of the smoke out. Good range of minimum wager tables - all the way up to a high roller room that was not used much when I passed by. Good bar at the end - Diablos. Smoking hot bar dancers on Friday and Sat nights. Really expensive drinks and beer.
I loved the location - connected to Aria, across street from MGM, next to mono and CVS (40 ouncers for $3 when you don't want to gamble anymore or pay the casino $ for drinks when not gambling)....
I would rec to those that don't need super high end accommodations but are just too old to sleep in really cheap rooms
