Need help Quick tirp to Vegas

Iv'e never been to las vegas before. Looking to go for just a couple of days and need something cheap. Im looking on orbitz, i would fly out of Eppley in omaha ne. Wondering what you would reccomend for me. Im looking for a casino (don't care much about the casino i will just be betting sports) with a sports book in it and something close to the airport so i don't have to spend a lot of money on taxis. Thanks for your help! These are the cheap ones im finding with good prices any you would reccomend out of these? Palace Station Hotel, Stratosphere Casino Hotel & Tower, Excalibur, Imperial Palace Hotel and Casino, Texas station also fits the bill but i heard taxi fees are expensive to get there. Thanks for your help

Do not go to Tex Station- it's off-strip. You willl not have fun unless you go to the strip, especially if it's your first time. Out of the places you mentioned I would recommend Excalibur or Imperial Palace. Imperial Palace has the better book and arguably a better location (center strip), but Excalibur, sadly, is prob the nicest of the properties you mention. Another plus about Excal is that there's a free tram that they run to Mandalay Bay, which IMO is the best book in Vegas. Personnaly, I think Excalibur has a better location than IP, but I think most would disagree. As for stratosphere, it's on the strip but it's as far north as you can get on the strip so there's nothing immediately surrounding it really. I wouldn't go there.

from what you have said...here is my opinion.

Stay at Excalibur, its on the south side of the strip.. as cheap of a cab ride as you are going to find to the strip (12 bucks maybe). The rooms at excal are very cheap, but also more than sufficient if you are like me and all you need is a bed and a shower.

from excal, you are a 5 min walk across two walkways to MGM, or (I totally recommend this) you are a free 2 min tram ride away from the Mandalay Bay which has one of hte best sportsbooks in Vegas.

EX would be the stop as others have mentioned IP a close second--rooms at EX are bare bones for sure but dont see that way up on your list of important things--enjoy your time and good luck

Tropicana Ave is the main access to and from the airport....

Hooters, The Tropicana, Excalibur, New York - New York are all located on Tropicana Avenue....as is MGM Grand. As mentioned, there is a free tram that connects Excalibur to Luxor to Mandalay Bay; there is also now a free tram on the other side that connects Monte Carlo (next to NY-NY) with Aria (next to The new Cosmopolitan which opens today) to The Bellagio....which also means you can cross the walk to Ceasar's from The Bellagio....Hope that made sense to you.

As to the sportsbooks?....Mandalay is the biggest; but New York-New York, which is the smallest does have the new Sporting House (the old ESPN Zone) next to it and it's a great place for good bar food, drinks, and watching the games....highly upgraded hdtv's (130 of them)....
