Moving to Summerlin.. 2014

Single no kids, is this a good place to be? Moving from Denver where I had grocery stores and shopping with in a 5 mile radius from my house. Saw a place called The Modern which used to be the Luxe Condos?? Any input would be appreciated.

It is very nice place, pricey but close to lots of shopping and grocery and red rock casino.

Have u check resort at the lakes? Its below south summerlin, close to restaurants, grocery and walmart. 8 minute drive to red rock casino. A less expensive option. I live here, btw

I don't think I can name a part of the city that there isn't shopping within a 5 mile radius. That's a pretty huge area. I don't think I would live in Summerlin if I was single and had no kids though. I would rather live closer to the action. I hated summerlin with the traffic and it being far away from everything. I would go more towards Green Valley or the south area of town by the South Point.

I dont know Bill, thought about Veer towers or The Martin. But being on the strip 24/7 would wear me out. I just would like to have that option if I wanted to head down there.

Yea, living on strip even being single I think would be a hassle unless you just partied all day and didn't have to work. I'm just the type of person that absolutely hates traffic. I guess if you worked a job that you didn't have to deal with rush hour I wouldn't have minded summerlin, but it just got to much for me. I think I would end up killing someone if I had to live in LA or somewhere with that type of traffic. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Why did you decide to move here?

Just need a change, life is short so why not try different places out? Where did you end up moving to in Vegas?

I'm on the edge of Green Valley/Las Vegas by the 215 and windmill. I grew up in Green Valley and made the move out to summerlin and just a pain in the behind traffic wise as I usually worked close to or on the strip.

It's a good area don't get me wrong it just seems like more of the place you stay to get away from the city. Nothing really out there entertainment wise except red rock canyon and the casino.

Summerlin is nice. Better area than Henderson to me. Henderson is so sprawling and crowded looking. Summerlin is spacious and closer to the mountains.

I agree with bill. Prefer the GV southern area personally. Summerinlin is nice tho just drive around the neighborhoods and check them out in person

good info fellas. I was looking at some condos on the strip online.. 847 sq feet for $300k+ range just for the location seems like a rip off. What are your opinions?

I looked at the same thing before I moved here. Some of those places also have $600+ monthly HOA fees. I bought out in Summerlin about a mile or so from Red Rock casino. Not sure if that's the best place for a single guy with no kids. Not much nightlife outside of the casino, but the Boca Park/Tivoli Village area is pretty cool (Rampart between Charleston and Summerlin Parkway right across from the Suncoast casino). Plenty of good restaurants there with good happy hours.

I think im going to stay off the strip Dan.. If I need to venture out then I will. 608 for HOAs is crazy, you are paying for location and convenience.

Living near Town Square wouldn't be bad if single, would be a pretty cheap cab ride.

I think you would be happy in either Green Valley or Summerlin personally.
