I'm coming in for a week in about a month and to get away from gambling for a while I'd like to see two things in particular.
1. The "Extra-Terrestial Highway" sign that I know exists on the road out to Area 51. If anyone knows how far from say Mc Carron is it. I don't mind the drive as I'm a real UFO/ET geek and that shit interests me. Want to take my picture next to that sign.
2. Area 51. I want to see the "You will be shot if you go any further" sign. I know that's considerably farther away, but how long is the drive, are the roads just absolutely desolate. Do you have to fill up in LV and you got one gas station in the middle of BFE. I'm aware of the "Little Ale'Inn" and I have to assume that's the only grub around the place.

Nark, as a lv resident who has traveled around the state numerous times I can tell you i-15 north to us 93 north then the first available spot where you can get some gas or snacks is 100 miles from lv which is the town of ALAMO.
About 15 miles north of ALAMO you get to the trifecta point of routes 375 , 318 and US 93 make the left to 375 West that will take you into RACHEL, about 40 miles away.
When you get to your hotel ask for a state map or if the hotel has the rack with all the brochures of things to do usually a Nevada state map is among them.
If you are interested in "ghosttowning":
Also if you go back to 375 west about 50 miles west of Rachel 375 ends and goes into US 6 which is known as Americas Loneliest Highway.
Take US 6 West into TONOPAH, then take US 95 South heading back to las vegas but you can go right into the ghost town of GOLDFIELD and then about 60 miles south of Goldfield you get to the town of BEATTY and you take route 374 west about 3 miles into the town of RHYOLITE.
