So I am going May 8-11 to Vegas with my girlfriend and staying at Gold Coast. I wanted to get on strip but my girlfriends uncle who goes constantly said gold coast was a good place to stay so I said whatever to keep her happy. I have a couple questions:
1) Has anyone ever stayed at Gold Coast? It says its a mile off strip.I know its not MGM or anything but if anyone could give me some more info on gold coast I would greatly appreciate it.
2) what are must do's for the first timer in Vegas? Obviously, I am a little limited bc of being with my girlfriend, so no white powder on the stripper titty's this trip. She wants to lay out until atleast one everyday (we are in ohio, its constantly cold). would I not be missing out on anything if I only gambled just at night?
3) Any must see shows or comedy? I bought Peepshow tickets for the girl. Has anyone been to this show?
4) Best sports book with free drinks? From everything I've read on here the bellagio is the bees knees and will serve free alcohol without drink tickets? Is this true or are there any other places?

I suggest taking your girl to a cirque de soleil show(my girl enjoyed KA and O) they are fantastic.
The Hilton superbook also offers free drinks in the sportsbook area.
For an amazing meal head off the strip to the Golden Nugget and indulge at Vic@Anthony's steakhouse. I prefer the rack of lamb but all of their meals are world class.

the Gold Coast has the best Dim Sum place in Las Vegas (Ping Pang Pong). of course, the ones in Hong Kong are better, but all the Cantonese people i know go there. they said that the Noodle shop there is also really good, but i am really picky about where i eat.
GC has a lot of Asian customers, but usually they have a much better temperament there than at other off-strip casinos.
i do like GC better than most local casinos. even though it might look older, the feel inside is quite open. i have never stayed in the rooms, but i hear it's fine.
they say that Cher, Celine Dion, the Beatles, and the Jersey Boys are currently the best shows. the Beatles IMO is the best Cirque show right now. go to the half-price tickets trucks parked on the street to get same day discounts on shows. that way you don't have to plan ahead. if you constantly bet $500 or more per hand, just ask the host and they will get you any ticket you want to any show.
Beijing Noodle No. 9 at Caesar's Palace serves the highest quality hand-pulled noodles you can get in LV. The SteakHouse at CircusCircus (yes, I know, crap casino, but very good restaurant) is the choice of most sommeliers in LV for steak. It might be a little pricy for some people, but it's rated the highest for quality and price. You can go to Jean Georges or Joel Robuchon, but the incremental added quality is not going to be worth 5x or 10x the dinner bill cost. The SteakHouse had some kind of fruit salad there the last time I went, and it was crazy good! I had the porterhouse because I wanted a filet mignon and new york cut to eat. Spent $75 on myself (no booze), and it was worth every penny.
Walk around the Cosmopolitan - nice Metro feel, and see if you can sneak into the pool area. Nice bar and mini-viewing of 8 sports screens right next to some bikini babes. The buffet at the Cosmo serves everything in individual mini pots and pans, so you don't have to scoop stuff out. VERY VERY GOOD BUFFET.
LV Hilton is the best, and has the highest limits (which pretty much is none, they will take almost any bet so you can ignore the posted limits, just ask.)
Have fun!

Dude if its your first vegas trip do not go to Gold Coast. Its a major mistake if you dont stay on the strip and get the real vegas experience. GC costs about $38/night. You can stay at Monte Carlo or Harrahs for $65/night. Dont waste your time in a complete dump. Do good by your girlfriend, she deserves a better hotel. A mile off the strip in the 100 degree sun is not enjoyable and then you end up wasting money on a cab.

If u do stay at the GC, they have LONGGGGGG hallways for the rooms. Ask for a room far down the hallways...better to have a long walk to the room than to hear everyone talking as they walk past your door

If you are not planning on spending a lot of time in your room except to shower and sleep, the Gold Coast will be fine. It's an older place and there are certainly no extras when it comes to the rooms but it's clean.
Best places to eat is very subjective. It really depends on what you're looking to spend and what kind of meal you're looking to have. You want a steak house? Italian? Japanese? French? Vegas has some of the finest restaurants in the world that can cost A LOT of money but there is also many great, inexpensive deals to be had here. Like I said, it all depends on what you're looking for.
I don't think the Gold Coast even has a pool so if your GF wants to lay out everyday, you're going to need to travel to another hotel. There are many fine pools in Vegas. I never go to the pools at the resorts so I don't know what the costs are to do so but I know it's not cheap if you want to go to a nice one. The pool areas I know of that have high reputations here are the Golden Nugget in downtown, Mandalay Bay, Hard Rock, the Tao beach or something at the Venetian and the Wynn.
If you're just looking for a sportsbook that serves free drinks, I believe most of them do but the service in sportsbooks can be spotty. You really going to be able to sit around in a book with your GF with you for long periods of time? I doubt it. The sportsbook at the Gold Coast is perfectly fine for you to get your action but you won't be hanging around in a book when this is your first time here and you have your GF with you.

Appreciate all the replies guys. I didn't have a choice on the hotel really. Her uncle stays at gold coast all the time and got us a good deal on it so thats the only reason we are at gold coast. Trust me, if I had ordered the tickets we would be on the strip.

The GC does have a pool, but its no better than your average Apt.complex pool, maybe even worse.
I'd check the Rio /Palms and see if thiers are open to non-hotel guests.Your GF will love them and you can hang in those books.Just a short walk to both properties from the GC.
GC has a shuttle to the Orleans and the strip (Bill's)
Rooms at the GC are just ok,but they are clean
You're on a short trip,it will suffice. Have fun

Bring comfortable shoes for walking around with your GF during the day. You are going to put on A LOT of miles.
I go with my wife all the time and she doesnt gamble so you will probably spend your days with the GF and then go out and gamble on your own at night. Which works out fine.
Tons of stuff to see. Go downtown for one night and check it out and go to the strip the rest of the time.
Have fun. I will be there the last time11th-15. Staying on the strip though. This will hopefully be the last time you ever see the inside of the GOLD COAST!!

I live in Vegas more than Florida these days, and agree that the Hilton Sports Book is the best and/or my favorite. Comped drinks there, but it's not difficult for them to tell if you are a player or not. Throw them a couple bucks a drink, and they'll keep them coming......
Have fun.

1) ?I have never been to the gold Coast, and it is no big deal if u are staying there, everything is close by.
2) ?For a first time visit to Vegas, rent a car and go see the hoover dam with ur gf, take her on the rollercoaster at NY NY, check out the view from the Eifel Tower at Paris, at night go to the Voo Doo lounge at the Rio on the 54th floor and bring ur camera for a spectacular view.
3) ?For a good night out go grab a steak at STK at Cosmo, and check out the show Mystere at TI. ?Check out Brad Garret's comedy show at the Trop, ?https://www.troplv.com/entertainment/brad-garretts-comedy-club
4) ?Go to Lagasse's Stadium ?
