Plan right now is to fly in late Thursday night, stay Th-Fri-Sat, and fly back early Sunday because I want to attend a college football game that night.
I'm debating staying at Bally's or Rio, price is not a concern because both place will comp me. I stayed at the Rio in March for the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament and liked it, the appeal of Bally's is that I have never stayed there and it would be an opportunity to try something new. Any opinions positive or negative on either place?
I am pumped. It doesn't get much better than college football opening weekend in Vegas.

Stick with the Rio unless you like the Strip scene.Rooms are all decent and spacious w/fridge.(Buy package goods at the GC gift shop across the street, not at the Rio) The deli operation off the sportsbook has some decent food. You probably know from the NCAA days, get there EARLY if you want a seat at the bar or a table..
You can shop lines with the Gold Coast and Palms an easy few minute walk. Not really sure what other options you have on the Strip as Bally's,Paris IP and Caesars are all CET.I guess the old BC/Bills and TI?
Have a great trip fellas knock em dead but leave some for us coming out for NFL weekend.

I actually like the Strip, would be staying at The Flamingo if I hadn't waited too long on this offer, now those rooms are full. Other options Harrah's and Bally's, but I'm leaning towards Rio, based on poor reviews I've read of Bally's on other sites. When I was at Rio in March, I took my father, and he didn't like the crowds and noise of St. Patrick's Day, so he went to Gold Coast to gamble. One of the pluses of Rio is GC being so close by, b/c I actually like some of the Boyds' properties, too.
