I havent dont any research at all and this will not happen for 3-5 imo. I am just curious as to what companies you guys know of or have already invested in that involved with online gaming....
I know encryption will be big for security, but what else? Will the vegas casinos have online books to get in on the action? Will there stock rise if the do? Will it fall if they dont?
Will the main sportsbook that are available now crush the market, or will new books located in the US get a lot of the offshore business?
Just curious what you guys think

CryptoLogic (CRYP - nasdaq) and GigaMedia (GIGM - nasdaq) would probably get a play IF the US went legal. CRYP makes the betting software while GIGM already has online sports betting ops in Asia.
both are currently around $1.40 a share

When you first mentioned it in the other thread, it was at $1.11...tried to talk my Dad into buying in. But he's got a HEFTY chunk invested in SPRD which he bought into about 5-6 months ago.

Harry Ried is pushing for a 3-5 year exclusivity for Vegas casinos when it goes legal
privately held Cantor Gaming would definately be a player. they are the most inovative of the Las Vegas sportsbook players (although I am STILL waiting for the Nevada gaming control board to approve their online service which Stations has had for YEARS)

No sportsbooks. Title 18 of the Fed Wire Act specifically spells out sporting events.
The text of the law also talks about games of chance - that's the whole argument behind legalizing online poker because it's a game of skill (in some people's eyes).
Sportsbetting online is permanently done in this country in our lifetime. Move overseas if you bet more than $10K a day.

Only online poker is getting potential passage.

So what to make of the FBI seizing these sites... what to do?
I think online poker will be legalized by the end of 2012
Not sure. There is such a demand and so much money to be made it would be hard for the US to not somehow make it legal. They have the lottery which brings in millions in revenue and poker would be pretty much the same thing, with the govt getting the rake. I'm sure this has been worked on since 2002/2003 when the poker boom hit..getting all their ducks in a row and waiting to take down the site for fraud....waaaay too much money for the greedy feds to not be getting their paws in the cookie jar....
