I live in Canada. I was wondering if the following link is a good option to get started in the world of stocks, funds,etc. I am green, but will go in with a "intelligent" gambler's attitude..looking to tail folks I think can make $, but also learning at the same time..investmnet would be minimal (1000$)

I live in Canada and am a frequent stock trader. I'm not familiar with Quest Trade. I've heard of them but don't know anyone who uses them. They do seem pretty cheap though. As long as they fill quickly then you should be fine I imagine.
I use TD Waterhouse. Trades are $9.95 but you pay a bit more if you don't have a minimum of $50 K in your account. Great discount broker in all regards.
