I mostly pay attention to retain and tech stocks but now I'm thinking about making a play on some stocks that appear to be undervalued. Was hoping that someone who pays attention to these sectors might have some advice.

I mostly pay attention to retain and tech stocks but now I'm thinking about making a play on some stocks that appear to be undervalued. Was hoping that someone who pays attention to these sectors might have some advice.
On CIL and VECO
CIL seems like more of a gamble, but a worth while one.
My buddy who is a financial advisor for a major brokerage says their firm recommended MU as a tactical play a few weeks back. They usually have a 60 day timeframe on their tactical plays unless something negative happens. I didn't touch it but he has a small position in it.

Here is an excerpt that I read recently on CNBC about Corning Incorporate (GLW)
Corning
Going downstream a tad, higher prices at the pump suggest consumers have less money in their wallets for other purchases; especially discretionary purchases such as gadgets. But Karen Finerman thinks any pullback in glass-maker Corning is a buying opportunity. ¡°It got hit a lot this week and I bought it a few times,¡± she says.
Finerman likes this stock as a play on tablets; ¡°you don¡¯t even need to pick a tablet they¡¯re going to be in a lot of tablets. And the balance sheet has excess cash,¡± she says. What¡¯s the bottom line? ¡°The stock is very cheap,¡± Finerman says.
Thought it may be somewhat pertinent to the question at hand.

For me it would be either Corning or one of the larger players that have it as part of their larger business.
Not sure that LED is ready to be cost effective in the residential space yet (speaking of lights here) and not sure what the larger catalyst would be outside that.
High def monitors are a declining price market, not a ton of margin expansion there that I see..

With incandescent lights being phased out, LEDs are filling the void in a number of new applications. The big news everyone is hoping for is more LED street lights in China. CREE is the biggest player but there's word the Chinese govt would rather invest in local companies for it's infrastructure needs. Enter, CIL. They get contracts here and there for commercial lighting (most recently in a hotel chain) but it seems like investors are hoping for the street lights to really take off.
