Mock drafting. Figuring out who you like, and don't like and don't like is only half the battle. You have to understand your draft format, and figure out how to get the players you want. Just do tons of mock drafting, from all spots. It works.

The real secret is knowing which players to draft in which tiers. We all know about Brandon Marshall, Dez Bryant, and Julio Jones. But it unlikely to have both on the same team this season. You have to know players 1-40 as much as you do players 41-80 and 81-120. And that's a problem with mock drafts. So many people quit after the 8th pick.

I agree with both of you...

I'll bring this to the table..

Make sure when you're doing 10 mocks a day that your league points is equivalent to the basic mock point setup.

In my PPR league we get WR and RB bonus @ 125 yds and QB bonus at 325 yds. Brees is ranked #2 in my league while in most others he's #14. I did mock yesterday and took Brees with my #1 pick and 5 owners snapped at me for ruining the draft.

the 'secret' is to be the first to pick up 'that guy' you know who i am talking about..... the alfred morris and the yasiel puig's , you can mock draft till the cows come home and that means squat, lookat the dude above who picked brees and then got his behind reamed imagine that was real, ppl are thinking he be there in the 3rd and he gone in the 1st so you really cant say mock drafting is the secret it will help yes but its all about playing the waiver wire and snapping up the free agents as soon as possible......

and above all else the WAIT TO DRAFT YOUR TEAMS, i cant stand ppl that drafted their teams in may then piss and moan when harvin and crabtree etc get hurt...always walywas always wait till AFTER the preseason is finished to draft, rosters will be set and key injuries wont burn you....all the best my man

I did a mock last night. Took Megatron at #8 (12 teams) then a RB with the next 4 picks. Its fun to try out strategies but mock drafts are not the key to success.

I just mock drafted this team. I had the 4th pick which was weak.

I'd like to play off this a bit. I agree with it to an extent but there are parts I disagree with. I play in a 16 team league so my view might be different and possibly incorrect for a 10 or even 12 team league, so keep that in mind. I think a wise move is using your later round picks not necessarily for lottery tickets because there are only so many Alfred Morris' in a given season. Rather use them for guys that are one realistic injury away from becoming "the man".

For example, I'm not a huge proponent of handcuffing but with the 2nd overall pick I'm taking Foster (barring any injury set backs). By doing that I'm going to take Ben Tate one round earlier than he should probably go to ensure that if Foster goes down, no one else can grab him on a reverse standing rolling waiver wire (which we have). I'm also thinking about drafting Toby Gerhart really late, just in case Peterson goes down, Robert Turbin possibly as well.

I think you have to sometimes draft a guy like that and just stash him for a few weeks and see what happens rather than lottery ticket WR or TE.

Just floating ideas.
