I cannot understand why Oklahoma went for it on 4th down either time.
14-0 lead, despite missing an insane amount of players including all your best ones and you're in field goal range.
a 17-0 lead on a team that has no pass game is a huge cushion. Give the kicker a rep and keep tacking on points, let this run only team try and come back down 3 scores.
Then after they get stuffed running up the middle, they do it again, on their own side of the field, after failing already they go up the middle again get stuffed again and give an option team exactly what they want which is to only have to go half the field.
Just keep it simple and do what teams used to always do and you would be up 17 ppints most likely instead of 1 TD. Why do you need to go for it when you're winning and it's only the first half? Teams only used to ever do it in 2nd half down 2 scores, this going for it in FG range in 1st half UP 2 scores against a team that can't pass is insane. These coaches get paid millions and can't figure out how to win games they're getting handed on a platter

with opt outs and coaches leaving, unless it's the playoffs, expect these kind of things. That's why other night I'm still scratching my head why those coaches didnt just go for 2 to either win or end the game instead of kicking the extra point to go to OT.

Venables isn't concerned about the Bowl game. He is looking to get some game film on his young players
Regarding 4th down, I have no problem with going for it inside Navy's 30. The one on their own side of the field is the issue. And it goes on all season with both College and NFL. Usually a couple plays later they give up a TD.
Playing with patience and field position is no longer sexy.

Venables went for it twice......trying to test this young offense. Failed twice. Navy is dialed in. It's not easy to stop another team from getting ONE yard, for those who have played the sport before....it's hard.

80% of the Head Coaches in College and NFL r not real football coaches! They would¡¯ve never been waterboys in John Madden days! Now it all geometry and analytics science teacher getting HC jobs or a friend or some idiot not deserving of that job!
FOOTBALL IS OVER AS WE KNEW IT! WHAT A DAM SHAME¡¡

My god I'm so sorry this seems to have ruined your day. How many threads do you feel the need to go into to be a prck? They haven't lost one since 2017 and were 5-0 since. And this one wouldn't be tied if Oklahoma didn't keep going for it, gonna be 6-0 soon thanks to moron OU coaching.
17-0 and Navy is way out of their comfort zone, why give them the chance to play a tight game with few possessions that is exactly what they thrive in
