It hasn't been necessarily pretty for the Ottawa Senators, but they have collected points in four of their last five games and are set up for success against a reeling Nashville Predators club.
Tonight's Senators vs. Predators predictions expect Ottawa to successfully defend home ice and extend Nashville's losing skid, as broken down in my NHL picks for Saturday, December 7.

My Senators analysis
Over their last five games, the Ottawa Senators have been averaging 3.00 goals per game. Center Adam Gaudette has stepped up with four goals in his last five games, and Brady Tkachuk and Josh Norris have each tallied three in the same span.
Having Norris healthy is beyond beneficial for this group considering that his last two seasons were both cut short due to injury. Last season, Norris managed 16 goals in just 50 games. This season, he’s already off to a strong start, tallying 11 goals in only 25 contests.
Tkachuk, Tim Stutzle, and Drake Batherson all boast over a point per game in their last five as well. Tkachuk has three goals and five assists in this span, while Stutzle has added one goal with five assists and Batherson has added one goal with six helpers.
Ottawa currently has 10 players with at least double-digit points thus far, and netminder Linus Ullmark has started to turn things around ahead of tonight's matchup against the Nashville Predators. The Swedish tendy has made 86 saves on the 93 shots over his last two starts, earning a .925 SV% with a 2.27 GAA.
Senators vs Predators Odds analysis
The current total for this game is set at 5.5, and it appears that Pinnacle has caught on to how much Nashville struggles to score. The Predators have the worst offensive numbers in the NHL, averaging just 2.22 goals per game with a power play that’s only converting at 19.1%.
Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault have had slower starts than expected, only combining for 12 goals between the two of them in 27 games. Ottawa might be able to put a few goals in, but the numbers show that Nashville will have a hard time.
Ullmark against Juuse Saros is a strong goalie battle. Despite Saros’ record of 6-11-5, he has put up solid numbers with a .911 SV% and a 2.64 GAA. I ultimately expect a low-scoring matchup at the Canadian Tire Centre tonight.
