National Tight Ends Day was celebrated appropriately during Sunday’s NFL Week 8 action. As a collective, the position had an all-time catch day and a bettor took advantage with an incredible six-figure payout on a $10 parlay at FanDuel.
The league’s tight ends combined to produce a single-day record of 177 catches. The 16 touchdowns by the position were also the most ever on National Tight End Day.

Bettors saw it coming, and some massive paydays from sports betting operators ensued.
The big one at FanDuel was a nine-leg “Anytime TD” wager with odds of +185,2013. The online sportsbook paid out $185,211 on a ticket of only tight ends.

Other big payouts from FanDuel included bettors turning $5 into $29,895 on an eight-leg TE parlay and $25 into $2,348 on a four-leg wager.

Caesars reported that one bettor cashed for $29,574 on a $5 wager, hitting on touchdowns scored by eight different tight ends.

Big names go off
National Tight Ends Day, held on the fourth Sunday of October each year, was created in 2018 by San Francisco 49ers star George Kittle.
Naturally, Kittle went off in the Sunday night game against Dallas, catching six passes for 128 yards and a touchdown to hit the over on his player props.

Travis Kelce, one of the most popular players to ever play the position, has had a little bit of a down year, but it didn’t surprise too many that the Kansas City Chief caught 10 passes for 90 yards and a score.
Cleveland’s David Njoku and Baltimore’s Mark Andrews haven’t had massive impacts all season, but the veterans were included in TD parlays because they’ve proven they can do it, and each scored in the same game on their position’s big day.
Buffalo Bills starter Dalton Kincaid caught just his second TD of the year in a blowout victory at Seattle.
Less likelier performances
Cade Otton had two touchdown receptions in his nine-catch, 81-yard performance for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In the same game, the Atlanta Falcons’ seemingly inconsistent tight end Kyle Pitts hauled in two scores and 91 yards on four receptions.
Jacksonville’s Evan Engram has had injury issues and hadn’t caught a TD this fall, but that didn’t stop bettors from putting him in parlays, and the veteran responded with an unlikely, clutch fourth-quarter score.
Tucker Kraft continued a breakout season with the Packers, producing 78 yards and a touchdown on three catches in the win over the Jaguars.
Sam LaPorta had one TD in Detroit’s first six games, but of course, he caught No. 2 on National Tight Ends Day.
Other tight ends who found the end zone on Sunday included Adam Trautman, Tyler Conklin, Brock Wright, and Nate Adkins.
Arizona’s Trey McBride didn’t get into the end zone, but he had nine receptions for 124 yards. His 106 yards on seven catches in the second half alone were instrumental in the Cardinals’ 28-27 upset of the Miami Dolphins.
