Pete Rose talent wise deserves to be in the Hall of Fame . But he lied and lied and lied for years. I don't think anyone questions his talent and is deserving to be in the Hall but he lied and lied tried to say Bowie and Gimarco were after them He actually went after them calling them out. I heard him one night on the national radio show he told everybody that it was a vendetta against him and the baseball commissioners were lying and knew the truth. Not sure if he would of got off if he just admitted that he did gamble. But lets not forget he went on the offensive about his accusers and ran a few conspiracies theories . His talent was never in question and his stats deserved to be in the Hall of Fame. But this guy lied and lied. I'm listening to all his accolades today in his memory and he over and over and over again lied that he never bet. What bothers me is that he went on the offensive and made up things that " baseball" was against me. He finally came clean and admitted he had lied. I think he should be in the Hall of Fame. Like he said there are many in the Hall that had some pasts But today although we remember him on the field he made up lies and lies and accused the baseball czars of going after him. May he rest in Peace but lets not forget his denials and accusations he made on those that challenged him. I don't think he ever had anything to do with losing a game on purpose or throwing a game. I think most of us understand his betting and when he called for the bullpen and John Franco was warming up and Pete asked him " what was the Notre Dame football score at halftime.. And again one of the greatest baseball players passed away today and his stats deserve to be in Hall of Fame . And I agree but lets not forget his denials and accusations he made on those that opposed him ...Rest in Peace Pete .

He was so arrogant and attacked his accusers ...Think later in life he softened up but he lied and ran his conspiracy theories " on what baseball did to him I do understand what baseball did to him since he was throwing and accusing them of lying and setting him up Like he said there are many in the Hall of Fame that there pasts would make you think They said Ty Cobb was a racist and many more. . Think Pete would of gotten more respect if he was more Humble. I agree his hit record might never be broken but through out he was an arrogant and attacked his accusers. I just am watching all his accolades and many are deserving but he lied and lied. Anyway just my take on Pete Rose.

There are many in the Hall of Fame that did a lot worse. He just was so arrogant and went on the offensive . They had the facts on Pete. Now baseball has fan Duel and many other sports gambling advertisements sponsoring there teams and shows Look at all the guys like Barry Bonds and many other that enhanced their stats by taking something. Pete gambled and again I don't think he " threw" games or cheated. But his arrogance and total denial was his demise I hope they find a place up there in Cooperstown for him . Especially today when gambling sponsers and so many sporting events. But the point I wanted to make was he went after all those that accused him with his conspiracy theories. He was wrong in that sense. Even he came " clean" I would have a lot more respect for him. I think as the years went by he realized his methods were wrong . He got so into his denials it was to late.. He is still one of the greatest hitters ever and anyone in my age group that got to see him play knows that. Rest in Peace Pete.. and when the Phillies traded for you and after the 3rd out at 1st base you splked the ball on the astro turf and you went into the dugout I loved that since you were on my team and now you either in heaven sliding into those clouds head first or down below sliding into 1st base. Not sure if St Peter opened the gates for you but you are an addition to the St Peter all star team he has up there . I see clouds and then someone coming out of those clouds head first sliding. The big question is are you safe or out.

As a youngster growing up in northeast Ohio at the age of ten in 1975, my first experience with baseball was the 1975 World Series, my mom had one rule...you can stay up and watch the games you just better be up on time to go to school. With that established I sat in amazement and asked myself "Just who is this Pete Rose guy?" the more I seen him play the more I liked baseball and said if I ever play this game that is who I wanted to play like. The way he set himself apart from the other guys that played the game in itself was amazing.
Thanks to Pete I was driven to become a switch batter...it's not too hard it just requires total commitment and if you want something you'll go to great lengths to get it just as Michael Jordan said at Kobe Bryant's memorial. Later in life after moving here to Las Vegas Nevada in 1999 another dream was realized. Shortly after the Palms hotel opened, I walked into the Race & Sportsbook to bet the ponies from Santa Anita and as I go to my seat and look left who do I see? I can't believe it was Peet Rose. There was NO WAY I'm letting this chance get away. I introduced myself and he looked at me kind of strange and once I stated that I too was born and raised in Ohio that opened the floodgates to a great conversation and he could not have been nicer
Here comes the meat and potatoes of my comment. His banishment from baseball was equal to a life sentence with the possibility of parole. Did I like it, no but there is a reason that Rule 21 is in place, and I have come to understand that banishment for life is somewhat arbitrary, still you need to protect the integrity of sports. Pete also became his own worst enemy. If I would have had the chance to ask him this question before he passed, it would be "When you made your first bet on baseball did you a) Just not care anymore or b) Figure that if you got caught since your Pete Rose it would have been swept under the rug?" In 1974 it was rumored that he possibly was betting on baseball then and the results of the investigation supposedly found nothing...makes you wonder...
Losing two Ohio born and raised icons from my childhood (Coach Knight was another within the last year, he died on Nov 1st, 2023) really shows me that Father Time is undefeated, and we all just move up one seat closer to the gates. Having the chance to follow Pete Rose's career and see him play was something I'd not trade for anything. If the Hall comes knocking, I will hope that Pete's family politely declines...thanks for reading.

Is it the water in Ohio that makes them like that. Lol Knight is another . One of the greatest coaches ever but also arrogant. There are so many good things they did Knight is another story. Knight did so many things for the good but the head lines were always negative. Both so passionate I'm glad I was alive and could see the two of them coach and play. Many just hear stories about them . Think the two of them are sitting in the bleachers in the clouds and St Peter isn't sure if he is giving them a key to the gates. And us down here aren't sure if there is a St Peter up there. We can only speculate .. Growing up a good Catholic boy and former alter boy I think St Peter is there. He is asking Bobby Knight about an out of bounds play and asking Pete about his sliding in head 1st. And behind those two is Woody Hayes and I know he has a visitors pass for one day only in heaven Take care every body Have a nice day.

That's a great story about my favorite ball player, thanks for sharing. Yeah, it's pity he didn't get in the HOF, given the character of the some who made it. It's the hall of FAME, not the hall of nice guys. RIP Charlie Hustle.
The hospital? It's a big building with patients.

They should have cut off his tentacles taking advantage of 15-year-old young girls. That's why he should never get in. Only my opium he's a low life but I am not the judge there's only one.
