When I think of the great Vegas entertainers of the 60's and 70's I always think of Dino Crocetti (aka Dean Martin). As you say he was the king of cool with an amazing voice and an even better sense of humor.

his girlfriend/companion later in life, Phyllis Davis from Vegas (Robert Urich), is one of my all-time favourites... so hot and poised.

apparently the whole Dean Martin being a "drunken lush" is pure Hollywood. it was all an act. 

He was complete Dick to Jerry Lewis ! In truth he and the rest of the rat pack were nothing more than a pack of shumcks 

I remeber late 60's early 70's he had is own Variety show then had the Celebrity Roasts that were so f ing funny

My girl always walks around the casino looking for his slot machine! It has become a real joke over the years as she tries to get him to sing or is it the machine she wants to sing!!!

 One defining quality of Dean Martin was when he made up his mind on a issue he stuck to his guns on it ! For guy who came up from nothing ¡° card shark, Club prizefighter, etc,etc ¡° to be a famous star he maintained control of himself and his career to the end....Which was on Christmas Day !
