It¡¯s because someone selfish didn¡¯t put their phone in airplane mode. Causes the doors to fly right off!
Nah, just kidding.
In all seriousness a friend had something similar happen about 10-15 years ago, section of the cabin popped off above them, knocking half the passengers out. He for sure thought death was imminent, but he woke up and they landed safely. As long as you don¡¯t get sucked out or bonk your head while passing out, chances of survival are actually pretty good.

air travel is becoming too exciting for my liking. last time i flew i hit the worst turbulence that lasted it seemed for 20 mins. and before that i was at ft worth a week after the "t.m.f.a.r." incident. my time isn't up yet but the adventures are getting real each time i fly or watch the news happen.

That was a brand new plane (Nov) that had the door plug blow out. United Airlines reports their newer Max 737's have bolts that are loose on their door plugs. They tightened them.
The Max 737's have a history since coming out in 2017. This airplane is designed by clowns, who in turn are supervised by monkeys,¡± said one company pilot in messages to a colleague in 2016.
Once coming back to Michigan from Vegas in February we hit heavy crosswinds while landing. The jet rocked back and forth all the way down and when we were about 100 feet over the runway I could look out the side window see the length of the runway as the wing tipped up and down. We were sideways. Puckered my ass and told my wife to hang on! Right then the pilots pulled a go-around. Good thing! The next landing attempt you could tell an experienced pilot was now in command as he/she quickly compensated for every gust of wind and landed the plane safely. Whoever was in control the first attempt was obviously not ready.

This accident not really Alaska Airlines fault although they had three different decompression warnings on previous flights with this same plane.
Back in 2000 an Alaska Airline jet crashed in the Pacific due to lack of maintenance of a jack screw that failed. Since then they have been pretty good.
