A small fleet of space craft reach the red planet this month.

A small fleet of spacecraft from the United Arab Emirates, China, and the United States will reach Mars this month after launching from Earth last year. The march to the Red Planet marks a marathon of firsts: it¡¯s the UAE¡¯s first foray into deep space, China¡¯s first independent attempt to land on Mars, and NASA¡¯s first shot at deploying a Martian helicopter

DUBAI (Reuters) - The United Arab Emirates' first mission to Mars is set to reach the red planet and enter its orbit on Tuesday following a seven-month, 494 million km journey, allowing it to start sending data about the Martian atmosphere and climate.

This would make the UAE the fifth space agency to reach the planet. The Mars programme is part of the UAE's efforts to develop its scientific and technological capabilities and reduce its reliance on oil. The UAE Space Agency even has an ambitious plan for a Mars settlement by 2117.

The attempt to lock into orbit around Mars has a 50% chance of failing, Dubai's ruler and UAE Vice President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said on Tuesday.

Chinese satellite successfully enters orbit as the American ship remains to enter the system next.

This is an orbits with a small craft that should deploy the rover hovercraft unit and be able to return back to the orbiting satellite. 

This will be a huge break through if successful and be the first to deploy a rover with an Arial drone hover craft able to take a sample and return it back to space. In 22 months from now the sample from the red surface can be retrieved and brought back to earth. 

Let's hope this operation is successful as the break through could allow human development on the red planet not only possible but actually feasible by 2030s
