No. 13 LSU 28, No. 14 Wisconsin 24: Anthony Jennings passed for 239 yards and two touchdowns and Kenny Hilliard added 110 rushing yards and the go-ahead score in the fourth quarter as the Tigers rallied to beat the Badgers in Houston and run their non-conference winning streak to 46 games.
Jennings completed 9-of-21 pass attempts, including a 36-yard strike to John Diarse early in the fourth quarter that pulled LSU within three, and Hilliardกฏs 28-yard touchdown scamper 2:27 later put the Tigers ahead for good after trailing by 17 earlier in the second half. Travis Dural caught three passes for 151 yards and a touchdown to lead the LSU receivers.
Melvin Gordon rushed for 140 yards on 16 carries and scored one of three rushing touchdowns for Wisconsin, but was mostly bottled up in the second half after the Badgers rushed for 173 yards in the opening 30 minutes. Wisconsin quarterback Tanner McEvoy struggled in his first start after converting from safety in the offseason, completing 8-of-24 passes for 50 yards and had two costly interceptions in the fourth quarter.
Wisconsin took a 17-7 lead into the half after Gordon scored on a 14-yard run midway through the second quarter and extended it to 24-7 on the first series of the second half on a 2-yard plunge by Corey Clement. LSU responded with a pair of field goals and its defense continued to stiffen, holding the Badgers without a first down on their next two drives before Jennings hooked up with Diarse on third-and-20 cut the deficit to 24-21.
Jalen Mills intercepted a pass from McEvoy, leading to Hilliardกฏs 28-yard score and the Tigers led for the first time 28-24. LSU was 1-for-8 on third down in the first half but 5-for-9 in the second, including a 4-yard run by Hilliard on third-and-3 with 1:09 left that sealed the win.
GAME NOTEBOOK: LSU starting cornerback Rashard Robinson was one of three players who did not travel with the team due to disciplinary reasons and highly touted freshman receiver Malachi Dupre did not play because of a hamstring injury. กญ The 173 first-half rushing yards for Wisconsin was most allowed by LSU in the opening half since coach Les Miles took over in 2005. กญ Wisconsin lost two starting defensive linemen to injury during the game; nose guard Warren Herring who suffered a right knee injury, and defensive lineman Konrad Zagzebski, who was taken from field on a stretcher after suffering an apparent neck injury but gave a thumbs up as he was wheeled off the field.
